Looked nice. 15 hours to charge!! I couldn't hear the phone ring! Volume does not go very high. Nice idea.....but recommend waiting until better versions arrive.

This is a great phone. I have used it for a week for the usages:

1) Regular conference call in speaker phone functionality from Home with co-workers from office. Great.

2) Log on PC to check on-line MSN friends and # of emails.

3) Use Windows Live call to people on line ( quality is just as good as regular phone call )

4) 5.8 G will not mess your 2.4 G home Network

Overall, best phone I had.

Bought this little gem thinking it would function with Yahoo, Windows, Skype, etc... - ok, that was my mistake: It's ONLY intended for Windows Messenger. It will not work with any other VOIP system or messenger service - period.

The only problem with that scenario is that, for me at least, it will not function with Windows Messenger either. No voice out... no sound in... just a pretty display that lights up when you push buttons.

From what I gather, I'm not the only one to have this issue although some people do have luck getting these to work. Uniden was at one time exchanging old versions of this phone for another one that was compatible with Vista but since I'm running XP that should not have been an issue. XP did recognize the phone when plugged into the USB port and 'apparently' no drivers 'should' be required. (I couldn't find any online in any case... just a myriad of sites that accurately described this phone as worthless.)

Bottom line: If you ONLY use Windows Messenger and have money to throw away... you're still better off throwing it away buying something else.

This product is awesome, you have to know how to work the phone. I have bought 8-9 of these phones so far. They are perfect for saving money when calling from the US to the Philippines or Canada. We are sending them to all my family members outside the U.S.

It more than pays for itself in the first month. The beauty of this product is you are no longer tied to the computer you can treat it as a regular phone. Oh by the way the phone calls are free. How much are you paying the phone companies. Just awesome product.

Tried to use these phones for Windows Live Messenger calling from PC to PC, and could not get them to work. Uniden tech support less than helpful; told me to call Microsoft. After dinking with these stupid phones for two days, I'm packing them up and sending them back.

The Win1200 uniden phone is completely convoluted and disfunctional. It does not list when callers called on caller id. It does not say the date or time of when a caller called, NOTHING. It says the number and that is it. I cant for the life of me imagine who let this get through their engineering department. It's as if microsoft paid them to make this and uniden tossed it together without thinking or caring a single bit. It is completely flawed as a telephone, and the computer MSN messenger features are worthless.

Avoid this phone at all costs. I cant beleive how bad it is. It's just a complete disaster as a telephone. It fails at both MSN live and traditional phone use. It is a complete mess. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!.

Dont be fooled by its nice appearance, or colored LCD screen.... because that is all there is to this phone. Once you take it home and use it... you will regret having spent so much money on a useless peice of plastic with a poor interface, that does not function well as a phone at all. Caller ID sucks, Telehphone book sucks, the RINGER sucks (you can barely hear it). ARgHHHHHHHHH. :) Avoid it.

This phone does not support video calls (i.e. the audio portion of a video call). I find it absolutely ridiculous that this phone cannot answer an incoming video call, nor can it initiate an outgoing video call, nor can it join an existing call (audio or video) already in session. If the phone did not initiate the call (i.e. if you didn't use the phone to dial or answer), you cannot use the phone on that call. Thus, the phone is absolutely worthless if you want to use it to handle the audio portion of you video calls! I know some people use Live Messenger for other purposes, but for me, the reason I use Live Messenger is to do video calls with my family... If I want to do an audio-only call, I just use a regular phone.

This phone with Windows Live Messenger software. Works with phone line and your computer. You must have turn your computer on and your Windows Live Messenger sign in together so do free calls to online contacts, although you can use it just with line phone and use it as regular phone. You can not send text messages.
