Many cordless phones on the market today feel like slippery little bars of soap. Not this one. It feels solid and indestructible. It's even covered in black rubber to make it easier to hold. The sound quality is crystal clear, and the maximum volume setting is extraordinarily loud. It doesn't have a lot of gimmicky features: there are only a few simple ringtones, for example. But it is a pleasure to use, and it will probably last until landlines go the way of the telegraph.

This is a very solid phone... It is heavier than my last cordless, but I see that as a plus. Easy and very comfortable to hold, easy to use, very precise buttons... and you CAN use it tucked between your ear and shoulder (or I can, anyway). Bought two and I am very happy... will probably buy accessory handsets in future. We have no need for the waterproof aspects, but the quality really shows, even when out of the pool. It is not as strikingly orange-looking as it seems in the photos online, but at the same time it is not a "blend in" desk accessory (a plus for our office).

I bought 5 of these phones. 4 were given away as gifts and I kept one for myself. We all love our Uniden WXI2077 DECT 6.0 Digital Waterproof Cordless Phone with Caller ID!.

Pro's:
+Replaced by a newer model so you can probably find them for less if you look. I bought mine for $15 each!
+Easy to hold; black rubber on sides, top and around the speaker on the back of the phone.
+Orange LCD is easy to see, as are the orange backlighted numbers.
+Stores up to 100 phone numbers
+Submersible aka: Waterproof! Take it in the pool, hot tub, shower, bath tub or out in a rain storm.
+Has speakerphone capabilities
+Can act as a walkie talkie if you have a second handset in your home.
+Excellent sound quality
+Easy to setup
+Clear LCD with date, time and length of call function
+Orange and black color of phone makes it easy to find when you set it down outside or in the garage.
+Excellent range on this cordless phone.
+Caller-id function if you have that service with your phone company.

Con's:
-Safety orange color of phone seems to be the only color it comes in.
-Registering the phone can be tricky so read the manual and take your time.
-No answering machine included.
-Very masculine looking...which could be a + or a - depending upon your gender.

A good solid, waterproof cordless phone for your home, patio or garage.

Don't hesitate to buy one to enjoy the submersible feature either. You never know when you may need to make a call from 6' down in the pool!

Phone works great,buttons are adult size not like the tic-tacs on others. The sound is much better than the Motorola phone system it has replaced(The Motorola was 4 times the price)
It holds a charge better too.I would buy it again.

I had been using 900Mhz phones only because 2.4 and 5.8Ghz wouldn't go through the solid plaster walls of my house from room to room and I couldn't go outside even 20 feet away. The new DECT 6.0 technology is now the best ever and this phone is the best as well.

The rubber cover makes this nearly impossible to drop and I love that it's waterproof to stay outside by the pool in the rain, etc. I love the phone book, the orange back light and the fact that you can't get garbage into the dialer that makes the phone not work anymore. I also love the speaker, mute and hold features. I recommend it to anyone with children and who are active outdoors in their yard!

I a so happy with this phone, the quality of sound is so much better than any other phone I have purchased in years. Many ring tones allow for personalized ringers for many different calls. Easy to set up although you must make sure you properly activate it.

Very happy with this choice. Extremely durable, thoughtful design, great voice quality, excellent battery life,expandable,caller ID, speakerphone, mute, redial, phone book, and programmable specialized ring tones for different phonebook entries so can easily identify incoming call. Phone is being used outside and signal quality is excellent at a distance of about 45 feet from the base unit and this includes going through exterior and interior walls of my home. Keys are not correctly sized and are well lit for easy use. Display is quite visible too. Color of handset is not as garish as picture. While phone is bulkier than conventional phone, it is not awkward or too heavy for frequent use. Will probably buy another handset for use in the garage. Highly recommend, clear winner.

The phone is listed as a shop phone, and is really good as far as receiving signal from base station at a distance. The waterproof feature is darned nice. The only thing that I would really like to see changed on this phone is to enlarge the size of the on/off buttons, as well as the numeric keyboard. Working in a large shop, we often wear gloves, and if you're trying to shut down a machine, and have to take your gloves off to press the relatively small "answer" button, you can often miss calls. Overall though, we really like this phone, it's SO much better than any other "shop" phones we've purchased, and it's Very reasonably priced as well. We'll definately be looking at Uniden products again when this phone dies. Buy it, you'll like it!

I had a Panasonic drop / water resistant phone for about a year and it did not live up to my expectations from start to finish. The phone kept losing link with the base and turning into a brick. If it was dropped the phone would shut off and lose a link with the base until reseated for a few minutes. I thought it was just me, but my mother has the same phone and suffers from the same issues.

After looking around, this phone seemed to be a solid bet and after using it for a few days, Im confident that it was a good choice. The phone is much more solidly built, durable and rugged than the Panasonic equivalent. They really cant be compared. Panasonic just took their regular phone and added some rubber too it, this phone is encased in rubber and plastic armor. The battery door is screwed in, its highly visible anywhere,which is a nice touch.

The sound quality of this phone was better than my other regular non water resistant DECT 6.0 phones, which was something I did not expect. Its the best sound quality I have personally had out of any of the 3 different DECT phones that I have had. However, Uniden has always been known for good sound quality, so I guess that shouldnt have been a shock. Usually however, when you opt for durability, you lose sound quality, so I was not prepared for the increased quality of sound.

The only issue I have with this phone is that the belt clip looks like it could break if dropped enough. I would have preferred to see some sort of reinforced rubber clip, rather than plastic, but I havent seen any other phones with that either.

Set up is easy if you have one handset, with two, you do actually have to crack open the instruction manual. Its a simple process, but not intuitive. That is my only small complaint with setup, however, Uniden made up for it by allowing interchangeability between the base handset and the accessory handset. Either handset can be charged in either the base station or accessory charger without registration or fit issues. The phones are identical and that is something I have longed for in a durable DECT 6.0 phone.

You wont find any frills on the base station, but the phone itself has every feature that you would expect from any new DECT 6.0 phone.

If you need a durable DECT 6.0 phone, dont bother looking elsewhere, your not going to find anything better on the market.

We are very hard on all our electronic gear. The last four phones were broken within a few weeks of buying them. We happened to find this one and bought it because the clerk told us that we would not be able to destroy it easily.

They were right. Over a year later and NO PROBLEMS. It has (among other things) been dropped in a sink full of dishes and smashed by pile of wood falling on top of it. Long story short, this one has out lasted all the other fancy, expensive phones I bought over the years.

Not only is it very sturdy (and almost indestructable), it sounds great! The ringtone is loud enough that we can hear it over the sound of jigsaws and music. It also has a handy page button on the wall mount so we can find it when I lose it. (This happens an awful lot.)
