Book Description

A young Mexican girl, Maria Sanchez, is kidnapped on her way to school one morning. She is enslaved and repeatedly, brutally raped by paying costumers, mostly Americans. But she survives and grows up to become an independent young woman living in Los Angeles. She tracks down all those men who wronged her, exacting a deadly, unusual punishment.
On her footsteps, following the police failure to capture her, is a reluctant private investigator. Gideon Gold served as a commander of an elite Israeli paratroops unit, and is a former Mossad secret agent. His frantic pursuit of Maria takes unexpected twists and turns, culminating in a dramatic, compelling game of cat-and-mouse that will change both of their lives forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars You May Know This Woman! Damron's Story Says It All! August 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Good literature boils down to two things:
How interesting is the story you are telling,
and how interesting is your telling. HFD

Unidentified Woman

By Hillel F. Damron

Out today is the latest novel, Unidentified Woman, by Hillel F. Damron. It is an unforgettable story that you shouldn't miss! Maria Sanchez is a young girl when you meet her, walking to school with her best friend when a large car drives by, opens a door, grabs Maria and takes off--never to be seen by anybody there in her home town...

This is not a new theme, unfortunately. There are tales about human trafficking, kidnapping of young girls, and worse in the news. But, have you ever been personally involved with just one of those victims? Have you heard her story, cried with her, held her in your arms, wondering what you can do to heal the pain of her body, her mind? Hillel Damron started following stories of these girls and his heart went out to them. Readers will easily see both empathy and sympathy reflected in his writing. He cares about these victims and the story he has created about a girl named Maria Sanchez resonates as we learn of her life and walk with her through her young life... Damron writes boldly, specifically sharing just what happened, but in such a provocative manner that, as I mentioned to him in my interview, it actually hurt to read it.

This novel is second in a series surrounding the character Gideon Gold--I loved this man! Many will find him somewhat old-fashioned--he's polite, considerate and not quite sure how to interact with the opposite sex, especially the young women he meets through his cases. The story is written from his perspective and so we get to know him intimately, including his thoughts about those women.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very intriguing game of cat and mouse. August 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Young Maria is kidnapped on her way to school in Mexico. She is taken to a "farm" where is is repeatedly raped and tortured mostly but wealthy Americans. Unlike so many others she survives, grows up, and is able to escape. She vows to make all those men and men like them pay.

Gideon Gold served as a commander of an elite Israeli paratroops unit, and is a former Mossad secret agent. He is asked by the wife of a wealthy Hollywood mogul to find out WHY her husband was killed. He really just wants a secure foothold into the Hollywood movie making business so is hoping she will set him up with the right connections if he uses his past experiences to try to find the answers she is seeking. After some time he finds one clue that sends him off to track down an Unidentified Woman and that leads him to Maria.

An very intriguing game of "cat and mouse".

Hillel Damron has put a face on human trafficking as we get to know Maria. Her journal takes us inside her thoughts in a powerful way. Ripped away from her friends and family she is able to cope with the painful and frightening situations by writing everything down as if she is telling her friend Adela her horrific story. She loses her childhood that day but she never gives up finding her way home.

I was impressed with Gideon. His wife set him up to get this job and he wasn't happy about it. It took time away from his real passion of screenwriting but he couldn't just accept the money and not follow through. He finds a clue everyone else missed and the chase is on.

The ending was very unexpected! A suspenseful read!

This story is very fast paced and I recommend it highly. I also recommend you check out the author's website for more of his insight into human trafficking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Read August 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
On the surface, this is a story about a murderer and the investigator that tracks her down. It is a story about kidnapping, sexual abuse, and revenge. It's also a story about a failing marriage, a fading dream, and the truth. But it is also about two people struggling to make sense of their lives and themselves.

First, there is Maria Sanchez--a young girl whose life takes a terrible and tragic turn. In the very first chapter of the book, Maria is kidnapped on her way to school in her village in Mexico. She is taken to a farm where she is repeatedly raped by American men paying top dollar for young Mexican girls. Maria's tale is told in the first person. She writes in a journal to her best friend, Adela. She loses her childhood, her self-worth, and her faith. Is it any wonder that the only thing keeping her going is her need for revenge?

Then, there is Gideon Gold. Gideon is a wannabe playwright who barely makes a living as a videographer. He is a Kibbutznik, raised in Israel and served in wars there. Now he resides in California with his wife and son. His marriage has grown stagnant, and his wife does not believe in his dream. She offers his "services" to a wealthy, influential widow to investigate her husband's death. Although Gideon is not a professional private investigator, he has a certain skill set from his years in the service that could serve him well, not to mention earn him a healthy sum. Gideon's encounters with the elderly widow, pairing with beautiful FBI agent Tami, and discovery of the why behind the widow's husband's death make him think about his marriage, his family, and his wants and desires.

The mystery is not in "who did it." You know who the murderer is. You also know why.
