5.0 out of 5 stars Heads-up
I just recieved this in the mail. Setup was 15 minutes, but the frame and metal is thin. I am not saying it isn't a good unit, but I am afraid it won't last as long as I had intended. The burn areas is bigger than most I have seen, but the pan below appears to have some gaps allowing ambers to fall to the grownd. Again, I have not used this yet - but was expecting it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I expected
I bought this item a few months ago. I have only used it once but it is already rusted from being outside. Seems to me, that an item for outdoor use would not rust quite so easily.

Also, the door does not function properly. It comes off when you open it.

On the plus side, it does give off a good amount of heat.

If I were purchasing this...

Again, I have not used this yet - but was expecting it to be a bit tougher in the frame. I would not pay more than $150 for this - HD, LOWES & Other locations provide for a bit more money what I believe could be longer lasting units. Overall I am glad I purchased this but learned quality cannont be confirmed via a picture or desciption. Best of luck and happy burning.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for the money..., June 14, 2007
This review is from: Uniflame Black Outdoor Fireplace with Copper Accents (Lawn & Patio)
This fireplace gave me the look I wanted without the big price tag. I wish it was bigger, but beggars can't be choosers. The craftmanship is a little flimsy and I wasn't aware that I would actually have to put it together, but it all worked out.

Do not waste your money on this. Mine rusted within a week. It literally fell apart after 4 months. The spark arrester fell of. This is flimsy at best. It is a very nice looking unit, but that's it. I had Whalens pit for 6 years. I replaced the screen once. I miss that thing. I gave it to someone who still uses it.

Nice looking not very functional with smoke getting in everyones eyes. Light duty with all parts of the stove made of thin steel. Ash pan falls out all the time will have to fix it. Would not recommend.

Title says it all. It's also seventy bucks cheaper at Walmart, but still isn't worth the money.

Purchased this item a year ago love the original look before it has fallen into the world of rust. Also the handle does not work well. No worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally an outdoor fireplace that doesn't woble and feel cheap!!!, December 28, 2007
We have looked at all of the models major companies put out as a display and found that everything under the $400.00 price mark wobbled terribly and were overall made out of very cheap materials. This thing is great! It took all of 15 minutes to unpack and assemble then we enjoyed or first fire that night to discuss our day around. We LOVE it. The next morning I found even more enjoyment from this purchase when I went to clean it out and had very little to do once I emptied the slide out catch tray. I would highly recommend this fireplace to anyone as well as the company that built with this type of quality. Thanks, Kurt in Atlanta

This review is from: Uniflame Black Outdoor Fireplace with Copper Accents (Lawn & Patio)
I received this as a gift and it was one of the nices fireplaces I had seen. unfortunately It should be put indoors after each uses - I did not do that and it quickly rusted and fell apart - very nice appearance initially but didnt last - ended up throwing it out. :(

4.0 out of 5 stars eh.. is all..., May 16, 2011

This review is from: Uniflame Black Outdoor Fireplace with Copper Accents (Lawn & Patio)
We purchased this fireplace about 3 years ago and all I can say is eh. I remember opening the box it came in and it was very flimsy materials. We had to bend a few parts to get them to fit properly. After it was assembled it was exactly what I wanted in a fireplace. I loved the copper accents because it went with all the other copper accents in our yard. I loved that it had a chimney to direct the smoke and sparks upward. I liked that it had the grill piece too and that you could view the fire from all sides.

The downside came after our first real wind storm in the autumn. The copper plate on the top of the fireplace flew right off and there is no way to reattach it. I also noticed that no matter how much you clean it, the copper is never copper looking again. The smoke and ashes destroy the look of the copper. The accents are useless. Since this is an outdoor fireplace and there was no reason to believe we should have to bring it indoors, we left it outside all winter. By Spring, it was already really rusty. I had to sand it all down and repainted it with rustoleum high heat spray paint. We have to repeat this process every year. We're coming up on our 4th summer with it and noticed that the ash tray underneath has rusted to the point that it will no longer stay attached. Thankfully we have it placed on some stone pavers instead of on the ground. (The pavers were necessary to keep it level. We had to bolt it down or the wind would blow it over.) So we've painted it every year & it has lasted. I would say if we knew it was going to rust we would have found some sort of cover for it but we wanted to leave it outside because we have used it in the wintertime too. My kids loved to sit around it in the snow and sip hot cocoa and roast marshmallows & hot dogs! Unfortunately This may be our last season with it.
