The French Revolution wears it well,
By
This review is from: Uniforms of the French Revolutionary Wars, 1789-1802 (Hardcover)
This 1981 book is a great addition to a library on the French Revolution. The introduction sets the stage for the 66 pages of color uniform illustrations. The pictures are detailed although the descriptions on the pages are not. Each color plate corresponds to a description after the picture section. Although the descriptions are short, they have enough information to give you a sense of the history of the uniform and why the uniform was used and where in the war.

A Very Worthwhile Addition to a Napoleonic Library,
By A Customer
This review is from: Uniforms of the French Revolutionary Wars 1789-1802 (Paperback)
This book covers the uniforms as they transitioned from Frederican to the better-known Napoleonic Glory Years. These are the soldiers that forged Gen. Bonaparte's reputation in Northern Italy. Some obscure entries, too, for those miniature collectors looking, say, for a dromedary corps! Good buy!!
