The great thing about the book is that the situation is so bloody believable. How many people go to bars and clubs and pick up strangers for one night of commitment-less sex? In Karma's case she would not have chosen this normally, but she was bound and determined to lose her virginity and the normal ways just were not working for her.
I actually loved both Karma and Jax. He was a bit older and not quite looking for a relationship, but he was a really good guy. He didn't want to take advantage of her and actually had more respect for women than most guys would in the same situation. And once he knew he wanted a relationship, he pursued that. Surprisingly it was Karma that was scared to take a chance on them. I loved how smoothly the story went without feeling rushed.
I would definitely recommend this book.
Once at the club Karma isn't interested in much, one guy is drowning his sorrows and isn't interested in meeting anyone. The bouncer caught her eye the moment she spotted him, he was "dark and delicious" he was "covered in tattoos (with) inky black hair ... strong jawline and the palest blue eye's" she'd ever seen. But there's no way he would ever look twice at someone like her. She had a few extra pounds, mousy, frizzy hair, her eyes were too far apart and she had no self-esteem.
Jax has been helping out his brother-in-law at the club bouncing whenever he could. It was good money, easy work and a good way to spend his time, what else did he have to do since the disaster of his last relationship ended. His social life had been slow since then. Standing at the club door checking ID's one night, Jax looks up and sees a girl with just the right amount of curves and the most amazing eye's he's ever seen.
Can Karma convince this hot hunk to be her first? Jax finds her intriguing especially later that night when she tells him she's "came here to have her first one=night stand"! "Jesus that girl was going to give him a heart attack. She looked so sweet and innocent with those wide eyes and they she dropped (that) bomb". Will this finally be her big night or will fate step in once again and stop her from having sex?
I enjoyed this story.Read more ›
I have to start with saying at the start of this book I wanted to smack the crap out of Karma and this is before I even finished the first chapter. She seemed so very spoiled and very self serving maybe even a little narcissistic. But as the book unfolded I could see that it truly was just an outershell covering up some deep seeded issues.
Karma is a virgin and not by choice and she has had the worse luck when she has attempted to remedy this situation. Actually they are pretty funny and add a comic relief to a serious topic. Once her best friend learned of this she is on a mission to have Karma lose her V card. They set out for a night on the town in hopes of finding that one night stand to take care of her virginity.
Karma starts having a flirtatious conversation with a bouncer named Jax. Karma is thinking this good be her chance and goes all out. Unfortunately for her the best laid plans often fail. Jax is an amazing guy that I wish still really excited lol actually he is perfect for Karma. He challenges her and has her faces her fears. Also he defends her to Karma's mother who let me tell you is a mean wench.
As you know I'm not a fan of spoilers so that's about all I will say. What I can tell you is Jax and Karma have their worked cut out for them to get to a HEA. Also close to the end I again wanted to smack Karma but luckily the girl made the right choice. If you are looking for a sweet coming of age read I highly recommend this book
I didn't like this book. The characterization was inconsistent. It was emotionally bland. The ending was unbelievable and trite. I don't see a HEA(happy ever after) for Hero and heroine. I didn't even think the book was romantic. Hero was a likeable guy. Sweet, responsible, thoughtful, and loving. But he didn't match well with immature, aimless, self-centered, and spoiled heroine. He wanted romance and she just wanted to finally have sex. But sometimes she seemed to want more but she'd changed her mind on it. Sexual chemistry was average and the sex scenes were part laughable and part hot.** There were times when I laughed and I don't think it was meant to be funny. This book was a mishmash of some good and some bad and some very bad.

I really like A.J. Bennett's writing, she's very good! This story to me is about love and finding yourself, not too mushy, yet a little "reading porn", lol. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Able Mable
