Book Description

The Uninvited Guest is the second Gareth and Gwen Medieval Mystery:

It is the winter of 1143 and all is not well in the court of Owain, King of north Wales.  His future in-laws are untrustworthy, the Norman lords on his eastern border are restless, and among his wedding guests lurks a cold-blooded killer. Gareth and Gwen have marriage plans of their own, but their love will have to wait while the pair race to separate truth from lies, friends from foes, and unravel the mystery before King Owain--and his new bride--fall victim to their uninvited guest.

Other books in the series include the first book, The Good Knight, and a prequel novella, The Bard's Daughter. Look for the third book in the series, The Fourth Horseman, in June 2013.

5.0 out of 5 stars murder and intrigue in medieval wales February 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoy historical mysteries--Ellis Peters, Sharon Kay Penman, Deanna Raybourne, et al--and I absolutely loved this second entry in the Gareth and Gwen series. I really enjoyed The Good Knight, book 1 in the series, and in my opinion this book is even better. Gareth, a knight, and Gwen, the royal bard's daughter, must work together to solve a series of murders that threaten to disrupt the marriage of their king. The mystery keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat with suspense over what will happen next. And the characters have really grown and developed from the first book. The romance between Gareth and Gwen is incredibly sweet and very well done. All in all, a great read for any fan of historical mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sara Woodbury continues to enthrall May 30, 2012

I purchased this book because I was on a "Sara kick" after reading previous novels of hers, and was not dissapointed. The historical background of Medieval Wales is enough to rate this book highly, but the mystery holds one's interest to the end. The characters of Gareth and Gwen are well suited to the story and I certainly hope there will be another follow up to their sleuthing in the future.

Not deep, but fun. The research seems good and the plot is fun. The historical facts seem accurate and the background og the Stephen-Maud civil was serve as a nice backdrop.

A good mystery in the 13th Century.. Read all their books but I do think it's more of a "girl book". Easy reading and enjoyable..

I really enjoyed this entire series, lots of mystery and intrigue while adding a historical twist. I have read all of Ms Woodbury's series and found them all just as intriguing.

More About the Author

With two historian parents, Sarah couldn't help but develop an interest in the past. She went on to get more than enough education herself (in anthropology) and began writing fiction when the stories in her head overflowed and demanded she let them out. While her ancestry is Welsh, she only visited Wales for the first time while in college. She has been in love with the country, language, and people ever since. She even convinced her husband to give all four of their children Welsh names.

She makes her home in Oregon.
