Book Description

November 2000
Union Blue is the story of the oldest veterans' organization of the Civil War.

On April 15, 1865, three Philadelphia veterans of the War for the Union organized an honor guard to attend the body of recently assassinated president Abraham Lincoln. From that beginning in a time of national mourning, the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States grew to become the Union's second largest veterans' organization. This volume gives the reader insight into the activities of the remarkably influential members of MOLLUS, as the organization is known.
