This review is from: The Union Game: A Rugby History (Hardcover)
If you're like me and a casual rugby fan who mostly tunes into the big international tournaments only this is a great coffee table book. It is an accompaniment to the BBC TV series of the same name and the series itself is superior.

The book focuses on the main protagonists of world rugby (the Five Nations of the British Isles + France...sorry, Italy...and the Tri-Nations of Australia, New Zealand And South Africa). There's literally nothing on some of the second tier nations we all love like Fiji, Western Samoa and Argentina.

There are longer asides of the greatest matches in rugby history (although the choices are too skewed to World Cup Finals) and rugby's greatest players.

It's good as a primer to the sport for fans to jump off and go find other books on aspects of the game's history that pique their interest.
