works well in full sunlight, June 27, 2009
This review is from: Unique Arts Large Solar Pump (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased this to circulate water in my pool (to even out temperatures in the water). I figured if the electrics failed, I would get a shock. The alternative, a sump pump, runs off of 120, which would likely kill me. The pump works well if the solar panel is in direct sunlight. Cloudy days or indirect light, no pump. The cord, while long, has a port for a corded power source. This adapter is only 3 feet from the pump, severely limiting the submersibility (why I bought it). Had I known this, I likely would not have purchased it

One week wonder., June 20, 2009
This review is from: Unique Arts Large Solar Pump (Lawn & Patio)
This fountain was easy to put together and install, and worked spectacularly for a week. The water jet went about 18" into the air, and then we switched to the water bell which was about 12" across. Then, one morning, it didn't work anymore. There was nothing wrong with the fountain, as we took it out to test it with the AC plug. The solar panel just quit working. On the plus side, customer service was fantastic, and refunded my money promptly.

Solar Pump a HUGE disappointment!!!, June 11, 2009
This review is from: Unique Arts Large Solar Pump (Lawn & Patio)
Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of solar. However, with this product, the pump ONLY runs in direct FULL sun.....if it is not DIRECT, FULL SUN, the pump shuts off. (Yes, even a cloud in the sky on a very bright day and the pump does not come on....). I'm used to solar products that function in daylight...I wish this had been clear in the description. There is the option to plug this pump in...but the question remains, if the FULL SUN is out, does the product pull the energy to run from the solar panel at that point, or is it fully electrical while plugged in? If I had not submerged the pump in the water to use it, and I know what I know now, I would have returned this item.
