When it was first published in a special edition tin 1991, Uniquely Cork was the first book in many years to feature photographs of contemporary Cork, Ireland's largest city in the south. This new, smaller edition makes the book available in a more affordable price. A photo-essay, the book starts in the harbor suburbs of Blackrock, winds up river through the center of the city, and ends in the northern suburb of Blackpool. It captures the city's people, buildings, and special places. It includes photographs of the city's different architectural styles, the old street traders, and newer retail centers, new and old civic sculpture and old residential inner suburbs. Niall Foley is considered one of Ireland's best commercial photographers.
