2.0 out of 5 stars Sizing matters
I have a very large foot. I purchased one size larger than my normal shoe. Instead the slipper I received was more like two sizes smaller. If you know the correct size I will admit that the shoe is well made and if it fits it should wear well.

I was very disappointed. I will simply give the shoes to a relative with smaller feet.

Sansha S1C stands as one of the best all-around canvas ballet slipper. Though this has been sometimes christened as 'a bedtime slipper,' for looseness off the foot, it does not obstruct the line on working feet, especially after repeated use. Where Bloch and Capezio tend to require multiple fittings and testing of different styles- especially through mail order- Sansha styles, as long as they are purchased in the correct approximate widths and lengths, will mold to individual feet and stand for years with good care.

The only reservations concern unusual feet and the leather soles' capacity for holding onto everything they pass over for an extended period of time. If you dance in a meticulous studio, the latter is not an issue, but where a stray drop of soda or Gatorade is occassionally spilt, you may want to scuff the soles once a week. Washing does not seem to clean the leather as well as the canvas, and eventual buildup will impede turns. Also, for those with longer toes, the shoe's initial looseness will exacerbate any of the foot's existing difficulty in turns. This is not a problem for those who have already figured out how to compensate for longer toes, but might be frustrating for students who are struggling with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love them!, April 17, 2008

These are perfect for a casual ballet class or some at-home conditioning. I ordered my normal shoe size and they're just a little snug, but I think with wear will conform to my feet very well. Overall, they're very well made. Keep in mind that they do not come with the straps fully sewn on, you'll have to finish that yourself (for fitting purposes).

5.0 out of 5 stars if just because they are so comfortable.., November 17, 2006
This review is from: Unisex "#1 Pro" Canvas Ballet Slipper (Apparel)
These are the most comfortable things I have ever worn on my feet; I bought them for gymnastics and I'm so happy that I did; They are so comfortable! But just in case you didn't know: the straps are only attached at the back of the slipper; So you have to sew them into the front- I'm assuming for proper fit; This is a bit annoying- coupled with the fact that there is no loop or area of fabric to sew them into without having to see your handy work through the front(no good if your terrible at sewing like me); And they soil easily; This should be expected of course(especially if they are white). Still, as my title suggests, they earn 5 stars and more because they truly are that comfortable; Especially when walking on carpet; I can't well explain why, because the shoes really have no padding; But they hug your feet and support your arch to an extent (I'm assuming these would not be as comfortable for flat footed people). The price is great and, if you are into ballet, what do you have to loose.

They are comfortable, fits just right, the canvas material is just amazing, I started using leather ballet slippers and omigosh big difference! My feet can actually breathe! My feet used to hurt after practice when I used to wear leather ballet slippers, now, my feet are just incredibly happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch out for the size, but a very well made shoe, January 4, 2010

I am a size 9.5 and I wear a size 11 perfectly. It should be snug, but you need to be able to get your foot in. So buy one to two sizes up from your normal shoe size. Other than that it was very comfortable, didn't dirty quickly and have yet to wear out (four months and many ballet classes later).

Very nice ballet slipper; however, I didn't order the correct size at first. They do run small and the new charts posted reflect that you need to order a larger size. Very nicely made for the cost..shipping is a bit high for such a small package.

I usually wear a size 9-9.5 in women's US sizes. After reading the reviews on Amazon, I decided to try ordering a size 11M, and they fit me perfectly. I think these will be a great pair of shoes, very satisfied so far. We'll see if my large toenail wears through the thin canvas, though.

Nice construction. Allows gripping and sliding on the floor as needed. I wear 4.5/5 in regular shoes so I ordered 5 narrow and they were a little bit loose, but definitely workable by adjusting the elastic straps. Order came super fast and nicely packaged!

I am a adult ballet beginner. Thess are my first ballet slippers, at first I was skiptical about buying these slipper beause the straps do not come attached and I dont know how to sew, but that is just a minor problem. I am a 6.5 in street size, so I bought a 6 just like it was recommended. At first they felt a little tight, but after dacing in them they streched and now feel great.
