This Unisource 2215 nitrile petroleum hose assembly is suitable for conveying gasoline, ethanol blends, and diesel fuel. Its black nitrile synthetic rubber tube provides resistance to oil and petroleum products, and can handle up to 50% aromatic compounds in the volume being transferred. The tube has a Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) Class A (high oil resistance) rating for a maximum volume change of +25% and will retain a minimum of 80% of its tensile strength after exposure to oil. Its cover is made of a black nitrile and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) blend that resists oil, ozone, and abrasion. The hose is reinforced with multiple textile plies and a dual wire helix for a maximum pressure rating of 150 pounds per square inch (psi). This hose has a full vacuum rating of 29" Hg, can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to +180 degrees F, and comes equipped with factory-installed aluminum cam and groove couplings. It is suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial fuel transfer applications.
Industrial hoses transfer or convey air or liquid in hose systems. When selecting industrial hoses, use the STAMPED method:
S = Size (ID, OD, and length)
T = Temperature (maximum and minimum temperatures of material being transported)
A = Application (industry or process)
M = Material (to be conveyed, type and concentration)
P = Pressure (maximum working pressure)
E = Ends (type of end connectors or couplings on hose)
D = Delivery method (volume and velocity)
The inside diameter of the hose must be adequate to keep pressure loss to a minimum and avoid damage to the hose due to heat generation or excessive turbulence. The hose must be capable of withstanding the minimum and maximum temperatures that occur within the hose system. Some applications require specialized oils or chemicals to be conveyed through the system. In this case, hose selection must ensure compatibility of the hose tube, cover, couplings and O-rings with the fluid used. Industrial hoses are used in systems such as air compressors, automatic manufacturing operations, aircraft controls, and tire installation in industries including agriculture, mining, road construction, firefighting, and aviation.
Unisource manufactures industrial, hydraulic, and sanitary hoses as well as expansion joints and braided connectors. The company, founded in 1980, is headquartered in Portland, OR.
