5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book for any homeschooler, February 15, 1999
This review is from: Unit Study Idea Book (Paperback)
I never knew how to do unit studies until I found this book. This book can be tailored to fit any homeschool family, and has many great ideas for what to do unit studies on. The whole purpose of unit studies is to intigrate most of your subject areas into one unit of study. For instance if you are doing a unit study on astronomy, for math you would maybe like to have the kids figure out the distance in light years away from each planet the earth is, or how many miles we are away from Mars, or if you wanted to do a scale model of the solar system have them figure out how many inches in diameter each "planet" has to be with each inch serving as maybe 2,000 miles. For history have them do a report on one of the famous astronomers and have that serve as English also, and have them give them an oral report and so on with all the other subjects. I have 3 kids so I teach them according to their age and assign according to their age also. It's really a MUST for anyone who thinking of doing unit studies or is just out of ideas being it's getting toward the end of the school year.
