When I heard Jahred was coming out with a solo ep I got pretty excited. (hed)pe is probably one of my favorite bands so of course I wanted to check this out. However, this is a straight up reggae album, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you like reggae.

My only complaint is this: The main attribute that drives me to like (hed)pe's music is that they are all over the place. One minute they are singing (jahred is one of the few rap/metal vocalists who can actually sing well) next minute they are spitting rhymes and the next they are growling death metal vocals. I can't help but feel as if creating a reggae cd would make the music feel limited. Hed pe already has reggae elements however this cd strips them of all the other elements that make me like hed pe.

This being said, the song "smash em up" was right up my alley. That was the song that made this album worth buying.

In the end, if you like reggae music, buy this album. If you like (hed) pe, buy this album, show some support and hope that they continue to make great music. While You are at it, (hed) pe's lead guitarist, Jackson Benge, came out with a solo guitar album called "Demo-itis". Check it out.

Unite is more like a "B Side" to the G-Punkesk sound normally associated with (hed). It has a laid back reggae sound with all the flair Jahred always brings to the table. Definitely a must for any hard core fan or one just looking to hear a few of their softer "fun" songs.

I love Jared & Hed Pe, this album is more easy going with only Jared, but definitely one of my favorites.....influenced by bob marley

Jahred's Unite is nothing short of amazing. Whenever I find myself getting into a bad mood I throw on Unite and it definitely helps me chill out. I burned out a copy with cover art and had Jahred sign it at a show recently... the one and only officially, unofficial hard copy. Jahred was so happy to hear about how his music had a positive influence in my life.
