Portable Van de Graaff Generator!Winner of 5 Awards Already, Including, Toy of the Year! Portable Van de Graaff generator, Fun-Fly-Stick, is now transparent and allows to see the inner workings of the wand plus the glowing corona discharge inside it. In the comprehensive static electricity Science Kit, the Fun-Fly-Stick, is equipped with more than just a Levitation Kit.The 25 pc Experiment Kit includes all the materials for the most exciting experiments with static charge: bending a thin stream of water, moving a conductive cylinder, 'electric wind', an ion motor, powering a neon lamp, electrostatic adhesion, flying saucers, an electrostatic motor, the electrostatic drummer, the concept of induction, and the Leyden Jar. The detailed, in-depth, static electricity Experiment Guide provides introduction to static electricity, overview of multiple atomic models (solar system and electron cloud theories), information about insulators and conductors, triboelectric charge, explanation of Van de Graaff generators on a very detailed level (covering electrostatic induction, polarization, and corona discharge). For an explanation of how the FunFlyStick works, Click Here. The generator really works!

I use it as a demonstration in my class and students are very responsive to it as a learning tool.

Both sets are fun and work well, but the science kit is a much bigger bang for your money!

I am the Education Coordinator for the Mobius Science Center in Spokane Washington. Recently I purchased a fun fly stick to aid my classes in electricity. I liked it so much I just purchased the fun fly stick science kit. WOW! I have to say that in over a decade of informal science education, I haven't found such an effective tool for facilitating an understanding of electricity. Students, parents, teachers all love the ease of use. We also expand on the idea to use pvc pipe to create a human powered fly stick. Thank you for such a fun toy and useful teaching tool.

Best Wishes,

Aaron Berenbach

This product works great i am very happy with it.
I use it as a demonstration in my class and students are very responsive to it as a learning tool. I would recomend this product to any educator about to introduce static electricity in their class room.

Really tremendous kit demonstrating most of the classic static electricity experiments and tricks. Before buying this I got started trying to make DIY version of electrostatic motor which was not working. So for $29 why not get this rather complete starter kit and see how its supposed to work if properly designed. The instruction booklet is long and good and tries to explain what is happening, and why. However, I wish our science forefathers would have defined current flow convention in the same direction as electron flow. I am shaking my brain to try to understand the direction of flow of the electrons.
As someone else mentioned, lots of little parts for little ones to get their hands on. If you are using for younger children, this should be with close supervision only, and you want to try to set things up yourself before you show it. The wand itself is low power but the mylar shapes and other sharp pieces need caution.

Pretty good experiment set for young scientists with lively shapes to make move with static electricity. The generator really works!

I bought the Fun Fly Stick first. It was fun. You had to be VERY careful with the silver flying shapes. They tear very easily. If you treat them gently, they work wonderfully.

The next year, this product came out. If you have to make a choice, pay the extra money and get this kit instead. It has everything in the original static fun fly kit and so much more.

The experiments in this kit are great, fun, and have plenty of "wow" factor.

Both sets are fun and work well, but the science kit is a much bigger bang for your money!

My 14 yr old got another scientific kit last year for Christmas and is always doing experiments. He got this one this year and has already shown me lots of interesting things this does with static electricity. He does the experiment, then gets on YouTube or Google to figure out how it works. He has interest in electricity and hopes to go to trade school in high school to learn more and start a business. I'm just trying to keep his interest until then. This little kit is certainly entertaining him!

Spectacular for demonstrations in class, and just for playing with... Great experiments to start with, but then the overall activities and extensions make it even better. Several students have now ordered them to play with.

I was originally looking for an affordable Van de Graaff generator (think mad scientist and electricity) but most were a few hundred dollars. When I saw this Fun Fly Stick set I thought it would make a good substitute for the generator. It technically has a small generator in the wand that creates the static electricity. My husband was worried that this set was too young for my son and that he would play with it once and be done. I am happy to say that he was mistaken. My son immediately took the wand out and played with it most of our Christmas morning. It's just so simple and fun that he could hardly put it down.
