5.0 out of 5 stars Drywall repair clips
This is the best thing to ever happen to the Drywall repair process. I have used them for years to repair various sized holes in customers' homes and businesses. My only problem is finding them locally.

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate if you use longer screws
I needed to patch the drywall in my garage ceiling and a water pipe made it difficult to use furring strips, so I tried these clips. At first I struggled quite a bit with them. If the screw hit a hole dead on, no problem. If not, the clip tends to bend away, and the screw doesn't catch. Keep in mind that when you are putting the patch in you can't see or reach the clips,...

Keep in mind that when you are putting the patch in you can't see or reach the clips, so there is no way to deal with this except moving the screw and hoping to get luckier. After fighting with this problem for a while it occurred to me to try longer screws, 1-1/4 inch fine thread drywall rather than the 1 inch included in the package. The extra length uses up the ability of the clip to bend, and the problem is solved. Note also that the clips are sized for 1/2 inch drywall, and it takes some bending to get them over 5/8 inch.

In the end they were adequate given that I couldn't span the opening with furring strips. If I had it to do over I think I would just try stubs of furring rather than these clips. It would be cheaper, easier, and support the drywall the same way.
