Seriously, since these two records are considered sister records, and forgetting all other albums by Megadeth:

Gun to your head, which would you pick if you had to?
(no half and half mix cd's for this count please)

Right now I think System has Failed. Reason being, that album had a great opener in Blackmail the Universe, many beautiful choruses and well-written songs throughout. I'm more of a song guy than a style guy. Alot of people prefer an album to "sound" in a certain style, but for me I like songs that have emotion. Also I like Chris Polands solos. The new one tries to sound like Rust in Piece and has a few too many familiar riffs. I'd rather Dave do whats in his heart than please a crowd but both albums are very good.

The System Has Failed. However, United Abominations is really good. I just like The System Has Failed better.

I agree with Charles that System is better of the two. Much more musical and catchy. I also didnt care for the Tout Le Monde remake. The original has a slower tempo, better solos ala Marty and Dave's voice just sounds stronger. Sure the chick that he got to sing is great and she's hot.. but it just wasnt necessary.. you dont need to do remakes or song sequels.. "Unforgiven too" anyone? or.. Return to Hanger? eek.. no thanks! I think Blackmail the Universe, Kick the Chair, and Sleepwalker are the best songs Dave has written in a while.. we need more of that stuff!

Easily United Abominations. The performance is tighter, the sound quality....uh, Andy Sneap anyone? I like The System Has Failed, but if the band all of a sudden broke up, I'd want their last album to be the best that they could have possibly done, and right now it's United Abominations.

i personally think the system has failed was waste of tons of plastic. united abomination was ten times better than that. i bought the system has failed listen to a few tracks got pissed that i waisted my money and threw it in the garbage. of course i took it out figuring i could sell it here or on ebay and make a couple of cents for it plus shipping. the only album worse then that one is risk.

commercialism and radio play= the down fall of so many good metal bands,,,
if rust in peace was their best and the 2 latest are garnering so much attention , why is no one talking about the stuff in between,, usually they only have 2 or 3 good songs on them........look what happened with metallica after mtv and radio play, they hired bob rock a motley crue producer, and then went into the radio side of hard rock,,,good thing the radio did not pick up anything after cryptic writings or megadeth's new stuff would suck something fierce...

I like the System has Failed, but there isn't as much filler on UA.

I don't like The System Has Failed. Theres 2 good songs on it, but the rest stink. United Abominations has some solid tracks, some horrid tracks, but also a few great tracks. funny thing is i used to hate UA, but i gave it another listen and am enjoying it.
