4.0 out of 5 stars Great when using spin technique
I ordered these because the tip of my old throwing knife (Muela) snapped off. I use the quarter spin or no-spin technique, which, favored the Muela because it was 11 inches long or so and had a heavy blade.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dull!
These knives are toward the higher end of cheap chinese knives. Made of mid-grade stainless, they have a nice weight and rotation, and are a bit larger and heavier than the cheap-o swap meet kind. They come with an inexpensive sheath and have so far held up quite well, resisting dings and nicks.
On the down side-DULL AS HELL! I had thought my rotation was somehow...

I ordered these because the tip of my old throwing knife (Muela) snapped off. I use the quarter spin or no-spin technique, which, favored the Muela because it was 11 inches long or so and had a heavy blade.

These knives are around 8 inches and are shaped like a propeller. The handle is about the length of my forefinger - so I had some difficulty in using the no-spin method. I still use no-spin with these knives but I have trouble in longer distances.

If you're using the spin technique, you would be right at home with these knives. They seem to be designed for that purpose. Durability-wise, these seem solid enough. I have a wooden target and sometimes I get a bad hit where the knife bounces off and lands on concrete tip-first and they're still ok.

However, one of the knives was about .5-1 cm shorter than the other two. Not really a big deal, but that means their quality control may not be 100% spot on, so, just keep your eyes open for other defects.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy Starter Knives, Ugly Sheath, November 27, 2010

My first impression of this knife set was that of a typical man...awesome, cool, and badass. I couldn't wait to throw them. I should of waited because now they are scratched, dented, and bent. They are sturdy though; I'm just an idiot. They are not sharp out of the box, so they are good for perfecting your throw. The sheath is strong, but plastic and looks something similar to the holster that comes with the old western toy gear and cap guns. The weight makes these great for penetrating boards and walls, as well as boxes, dart boards, and plastic bottles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for a teenager, October 15, 2008

My 16 year old son loves these knives. Their shape gives them good balance and either end will stick into your target. The sheath is cheap leather and is virtually useless. The knives are solidly made from relatively soft steel (so the won't break). All thing considered, I'm happy with the value for the money spent.

On the down side-DULL AS HELL! I had thought my rotation was somehow off as I couldn't get them to stick, but then I realized they hit correctly and just fell out of the board. If you get these, be ready to spend some time sharpening them-I could press them into my palm with five pounds of pressure and not even have them break skin!.
In addition, some of these 5-star reviews are exactly the same for all Hibben knife products. Very suspicious!

I bought these knives after a great deal of shopping around for my boyfriends birthday cause he is a hobby knife thrower. The reviews from other people stated the knives run on the heavy side and after throwing them for a while he did confirm they are a little on the heavy side, however the added weight make the stick better and more durable. They fly through the air and are very accurate. Very tastefully designed as well. The leather sheath that comes with it definately does not reflect the same quality as seen in these knives but it's fine till you find something you like better. Despite the way the picture looks, these knives are not double sided. The smaller end of the knife is quite a bit thicker for grip and has no edge to it. All in all fantastic trio of knives.

I got inspired watching a Hickok45 video on You Tube about throwing knives and tomahawks and ordered this set. I was familiar with the makers work and designs and found this quality is better than my skill at throwing. I am just learning to make it stick although my accuracy and precision is adequate for a novice at throwing. The knife set came on time, packaged well, has been used and held up consistently to wear, and has a good holster to keep them together. It is comfortable to carry to the range and is a nice relaxing game to play in your yard on a fall day.

These knives are great, they're sturdy and perfectly balanced, perfect for spin throwing. The price is unmatched and the sheath isn't as cheap as a review said it was and I'm very happy with it. I was looking at cold steel throwers, but you will get only one knife for the price of these three, and cold steel won't include a sheath! These knives are perfect for beginners, and I'd recommend these knives to anyone. They are great fun, and are well worth the money.

This is a pretty good set of throwing knives, they're well weighted and somewhat soft but they don't get nicks and scratches easily. Being stainless steel these are very easy to clean with some stainless steel cleaner and the fun part about these is how well they can stick with the handle or the blade. Good buy, nice looking blades as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good set of knives, August 2, 2010

I recently purchased these knives to just try them out. The worked really well and I was able to consistently hit the center target much better with these than my other hibben knives. There is a technique involved with throwing them, as with any other knife, you have to find the "sweet spot".
As I said before, they are quite accurate when it comes to the target accuracy. However they do not penetrate quite as deeply as my heavier knives, which are the same length, they just weigh more.
I've found that they suit me throwing from 22/25 feet(blade throw). I also throw with alot of spin with all my knives, and the spin technique seems to work well with them.
All in all they are a good set of knives, but they did dull quite easily.
