5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sword!, November 7, 2009
This sword is magnificent! It is everything I was hoping for. I'm an avid sword collector and martial artist, and this sword satisfies both categories.

This sword totally puts the cheaper wall hangers to shame. Once you weld it, you know your handling a quality piece. The handle fits perfect in your grip. It's just the right shape to provide an ergonomic effect.

Its balance is awesome. Just enough heft to follow through with a powerful swing, yet easy too stop and remaneuver.

The blade is beautiful. I had to clean it up alittle. It still had some kind of cosmoline on it. Once cleaned up (blade polish worked like a charm), I was really impressed. The hamon's uneven flow indicates that it could be a true temper line. There are no hammered waves from the forging. Everything is smooth, straight and very very sharp.

Cutting - I was slicing through 1" bamboo very clean. Pool noodles, like a laser.

The scabbard is pretty nice, too. It can be worn over the shoulder, leaving the blade to be drawn traditionally from the side. It allows a smooth and silent draw / resheathing.

Lastly, I was quite impressed with the packaging. It came in a officially licensed United Highlander box, with a letter of certification. The box provided the sword/character's history for this sword and Connor's, along with detailed pictures and specifications.

All in all, I highly recommend this product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Duncan McLeod Katana Sword, August 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was a very well-made forged steel replica of Duncan's Katana, and it included the cool and well-made under-the-overcoat leather scabbard that has adjustable harness straps to fit practically anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Replica of Duncan's Sword!, May 1, 2011

This sword is a high-quality piece! The feel is solid and is indeed a functional blade. It is as much a weapon as it is a replica of Duncan's katana. I did a video action editing project for a college course and it was based off the t.v. show. The sword looks very much like the blade he uses in the series. The carrying belt it comes with I've never seen before, but then I haven't watched the entire series. The only reason I didn't give the sword a complete 5 star rating was because I noticed the "Highlander" logo is engraved in the blade at the hilt. For such a great sword, it is definitely something I will overlook and keep it as one of my prime blades. Still, c'mon United Cutlery-do you really need to put that on the blade? But, all-in-all an excellent sword. I recommend it.
