Very good LOTR films replica Sword,

I purchased this sword as a Christmas gift for my Tolkien fanatic husband. Michael has loved the Lord of the Rings tales since early childhood and wanted a sword, particularly Narsil, for years. (long before Peter Jackson filmed his wonderfully respectful epics.) As per my husband, this is a faithful reproduction of the sword designed for the LOTR films, and United Cutlery's version is blessed by New line Cinema. The overall quality is quite good; with decent steel, used for the blade, quality leather handgrip and antiqued silver and 24 k' gold appointments on the pommel.
As an former SCA member, I will mention that this sword, as hand and a half bastard sword,(40 and 5/8 ") is really meant for display. The edges are blunt and it comes with a short wood placard for hanging vertically. (We plan to get additional hardware to fit ours horizontally over the hearth.) For any practical recreationist use, I should think you could find something better suited from SCA Sources, but this is an excellent fantasy sword. If you do plan to wear & wield Narsil, Check out the scabbard for Anduril & Narsil, also on AMAZON: <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007XC3NM/qid=1136064712/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-3325023-2375161?v=glance&s=sporting-goods&n=507846> This is on my husband's birthday wish list, so I can't speak to the scabbard's quality as yet. The balance of the sword seems a little "blade- heavy" and the point is quite sharp enough to skewer carpets, toes and family pets. 'Suggest you play with it outside. My husband is very pleased with this LOTR replica and is overjoyed to have a tangible, (read: sharp & pointy) connection with his best-loved works of literature.

This review is from: United LOTR Narsil, Leather Wrapped Handle, Plain (Toy)
This is the genuine United Cutlery UC1267 Narsil "Sword of King Elendil" and so far appears more solid than UC1299 "Sword of Strider" which we also own. I believe the only difference between this and UC1380ASNB Anduril "Sword of King Elessar" is that Anduril has the runes on the blade, added in the story when it was re-forged. It fits perfectly in UC1396LTNB Anduril Scabbard which we also own. (The Sword of Strider fits loosely, being smaller, but we have not yet been able to locate anyone selling UC1366LTNB Strider Scabbard.)
My son was spending his birthday money on this, but would have had to wait to earn more to afford Anduril, so he decided he didn't need the runes on the blade. He is completely happy with his purchase! He loves the ridges in the grip, where the Strider Sword is smooth, and it appears to be solid through the grip, where the Strider Sword needed some epoxy after somewhat rough use. I wouldn't call it a toy, it is quite capable of inflicting damage with its point, and the edge comes just shy of sharp.
