Editorial Reviews

Brand New Sin has risen to new levels with their latest recording, and is ready to unleash the disenfranchised roar of United State.

The enduring trio of Kris Wiechmann (Vocals/Guitar), Chuck Kahl (Bass), and Kevin Dean (Drums) are joined by the new blood of Tommy Matkowski on lead guitar. Tommys playing is truly the finishing piece to this already powerful puzzle, lending a fresh and deeply rooted hard rock style to the Brand New Sin sound. This line-up spent much of 2010 on the road together defining the terms of United State, including opening shows for Slash and Myles Kennedy.

United State expands on their 2009 independent release, Distilled, delivering some of the most accomplished and self-defining tracks of the bands career. It is clear that the lyrics of these autobiographical songs resonate in the state of mind of so many today. United State is a time capsule of the struggle to survive and overcome in our current society. Many of the songs are about self-reflection. Wiechmann taps into the psyche of the masses: the moments that define each of us. Infamous and Elbow Grease animate the thoughts of a listener pondering their own past. The rage of songs like Goddess Of War and Bed Of Nails call out those that try and take advantage of the plight of others, while the anthemic All My Wheels tells a story of the struggle to live life never looking back, never regretting, uncompromised.

United State sees a determined and confident Brand New Sin voicing the rage of the world, through fiercely developed statements in lyrics, riffs, and powerfully crafted guitar solos, backed by a driving rhythm section that continues to define strength.

The compact disc contains the following bonus tracks, Glory Days, Sad Wings (Acoustic 2011) and The Wizard.

Blue collar, beer drinking, Rock N Roll!

2.0 out of 5 stars Sad, sad, sad. December 15, 2011
By nm156
Format:Audio CD
I can't believe this is the band that blew me away with the ballsy southern rock sound of 'Recipe for Disaster' but then again after all the personnel turnover I guess it isn't. This release continues their downward trajectory which I had hoped bottomed out with 'Distilled'. There are some mediocre songs but for the most part the songs are weak and the sound often borders on folkish with its overuse of acoustic guitars. Sad to think what could have been with the 'RfD' line-up.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing January 7, 2012
By A dude
Format:Audio CD
This is a major disappointment. Listen to their first CD, then listen to this. BNS had a good thing going with the original lineup and the wheels are totally off now. They lost a great guitar player and a great vocalist and now sound like a pop band by comparison. Either change the name of the band or get the original lineup back together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock Music to Travel With October 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
United State is definitely a CD that requires repeat listens-thus the perfect cd to keep in the car.
The challenge is to pick a favorite song. Depending on your daily routine you will have a new choice
pick daily. I truly believe BNS wants to take you on a personal or possibly thought provoking journey
that was started on "Distilled' their 2009 Independent release. Each original song can relate to a person,
place or time you have already witnessed. Keeping the hard rock and southern rock fans pleased seems to work.
Another bonus takes you from the beginning of Brand New Sin with an acoustic version of 'Sad Wings' from
their 1st CD plus a couple covers that will surprise the listener. I tend to watch various tv shows now
and just place certain tunes from this cd in those sound tracks. I consider this a cd a great choice for
holiday gift giving in 2011.

What the hell happened to the Recipe For Disaster sound? This is just pathetic. Dont bother with it. Just sad. Check out Black Water Rising instead. I never sent this, I have no clue where it came from
