Danger: USE Will Cause You to Move Muscles,
By Rawk Gaud (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: United State of Electronica (Audio CD)
Yes they use a vocoder, yes daft punk uses a vocoder and an electronic bass drum beat, that's all they have in common. USE writes songs that are entertaining and musical (which is hard to come by in electronica). They also mix traditional instruments into the mayhem which gives their music a natural sound which is exempt from most electronic music. Their live shows are all about energy, you will move, dance and squirm uncontrollably. Go seem them live in a smaller venue while you still can.

this album is truly revolutionary. people dont realize this. their called united state of electronica because they are funny people. it's not a serious name, nor is their music trying to change uppity hipsters who think they got ripped off cuz they want something depressing. these songs are actually amazing pop rock songs w/ a techno bass drum beat. really simple, really effective. and it's true, they really are the best live band in the USA.

Best Party Music Around!!!,
This review is from: United State of Electronica (Audio CD)
U.S.E. Rocks!!! This is the type of music I've been waiting for for soooo long. Nothing makes a day happier than this album. Some songs are better than others but mostly it will keep you dancing and they are a real band that you can't help but scream out with. See them live if possible, the music will keep you coming back.

Eerily infectious (but in a good way),

I picked this album up at one of U.S.E.'s awesome live shows and I'm so glad that I did--now whenever I need a boost in my mood all I need to do is pop their CD in and before long I'm singing along with a goofy, exhuberent smile on my face. What more could you ask for?

Excellent CD - Excellent Live Performance,
This review is from: United State of Electronica (Audio CD)
Heard of these guys streaming online at kexp.org. Got hooked on a couple of their songs and drove to S.F. to catch a live show. This album is absolutely one of my favorites that I've picked up within the past year. While the entire album is great, my favorite tracks are "Open Your Eyes" and "Emerald City".

Party on Bill...Party on Ted,

I listened to this album while driving to a Hot Spring in the Olympic range outside of Seattle. If you are familiar with any of the Seattle neighborhoods, this album will crack you up. If you have ever had a night shift, this album is for you. If you have a sense of humor and like to dance, this is for you. If you are annoyed by the Daft Punk-esque voice modulation most annoyingly used by Cher in her recent single, this is Not for you. But seriously, if you don't get a kick out of this, then you most likely find "Desperate Housewives" scenarios hilarious. Then this album would not be for you and should continue searching for Kelly Clarkson albums.

Sorely Disappointed,

I heard "Open Your Eyes" on Seattle's KEXP and loved it, hearing echoes of Daft Punk. But none of the other songs are as tight or interesting as that one, so I was really let down. Even the start of the album is a wishy-washy fade-in, rather than a bump or a jump.
I still love "Open Your Eyes" and I repeated "Emerald City" as soon as it finished but none of the other songs really caught my ear and made me think of a party. I guess I should have bought a Daft Punk album instead.

The United States of Electonica are an event. Sure, you can play their CD and flail around your in your living room. But go see them live and flail with hundreds of other beaming U.S.E fans! Best songs: Takin' It All The Way, Emerald City, It Is On!

Love this CD =D,

I saw these guys live at the Crystal Ballroom with the Presidents a few years back, and bought the CD. They are fantastic! This is great music for moving to, and it's so cheerful. I admit that 90% of my music collection is composed of 'downer' songs, but this whole album is an upper. It makes you tap your foot, dance around, and grin a little when you listen to some of the catchy lyrics.
They're fantastic live, they're great on this CD, and I recommend seeing them live if you so have the chance. =D |
