This is an excellent book for teachers to use. A map is shown for each state; with information on capitals, nick names, state mottos, flowers, birds, trees, main rivers and when the state came into the union. Each page also shows where the state is in the U.S. This is a great way for young students to learn about the country where they live.

For the geography teacher or student, "United States Coloring Book" is a great introduction to state study. Each page (or state) includes a border map showing the state capital and an insert which shows the state's location in the United States.

Other features of each state's coloring page are a listing of the capital (also marked on the map), flower, bird, tree (all included as items to be colored), and motto, main river, date and time admitted to the union, and any other tourist information.

This book can be used by the parent for reinforcement of things learned at school, as well as by teachers for introductory or culminating project work. Recommended.

I homeschool and these books (in conjuntion with Seterra) were awesome geography learning tools!

When my homeschooled first grade daughter expressed an interest in learning about different states, I bought this as an activity/companion book to go with the unit we put together. It's a very clean, clear coloring book displaying each state outline with major rivers and capitols clearly marked. It also features the state bird, flower, tree and a couple landmarks to color on each page along with each state's basic information including date of induction into the Union. A great coloring book for fun and for educational purposes!

My daughter just turned 6 and is completely into reading and knowledge (she collects state quarters, like trivial information, etc). When I came across this here, I knew she would totally be into it...and I was right! It's educational and FUN! Very durable, too..not the flimsy types that you get at a dollar store :)

My little girls [..]) love to color when I read, and I like the coloring page to be related to topic. The coloring pages help keep them interested in the topic, and stop fights from starting. Dover coloring books really made school easier and more fun for all of us. Best for K - [..].

I bought this for my daughter as she was learning the 50 states and their capitals. She also loves to color and enjoys this book because it has "unusual" things to color. A good purchase for the price in my opinion.
