5.0 out of 5 stars Hard-Driving, Upbeat Songs with Thoughtful Lyrics June 28, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
This new album by Pujol is the best music they've produced to date. The melodies are memorable, the rhythm is catchy and upbeat and the performance is tight and polished. United States of Being shows the tremendous growth of singer/guitarist Daniel Pujol as a musician. The songs are in some ways reminiscent of early rock bands like Dave Clark 5 and The Animals, with their upbeat rhythms and pop sound. However, they have a fresh perspective born of his thoughtful, almost poetic mind. The growling vocals are in the true tradition of rock bands.

Contrary to the "buzz" my favorite tune is Psychic Pain. This song conveys the confusion of "feelings I don't understand" with simple but powerful lyrics. In a summer season that has seen the movie "Rock of Ages" acquaint or re-acquaint people with the hard-driving rock of the 80s, United States of Being is poised to be a resounding success.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Must-Own Album January 14, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I first heard PUJOL's music on Jeffery Drag Record's summer mixtape (a free download from the label's Bandcamp site), which featured the track "Bonedaddy," a B-side from his 2011 album 'X-Files from Main Street'. It's a solid song, but nothing really jumped out at me. However, PUJOL hails from the alternative rock mecca of the 21st century: Nashville, TN. His 2010 Third Man Records Blue Series single, "Black Rabbit," rocks so hard it'll make your hair stand on end. It's just one of 12 songs that will absolutely and completely blow you away.

PUJOL play fast and loose. They have that '90s edge while maintaining that old-school punk energy that make them just a little bit dangerous. But then there's the band's namesake Daniel Pujol's lyrics, which aren't just witty but downright smart. So smart, in fact, that they make you think. From the opening of "DIY2K" through the end of "Psychic Pain," this album will have you dancing like a fool and singing along all the while.

The only downfall of this album is that it's one of 3 releases available from Amazon. PUJOL has released at least a dozen singles, EPs, and LPs, most of which are available on iTunes. Others you'll have to dig around through the various labels the band's signed with over the last few years. Regardless, it's worth the time and effort. These guys are going to hit it big; the only question is when.

5.0 out of 5 stars PUJOL should be the next big thing October 10, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
PUJOL continues to amaze. Finally he comes out with a full length studio album that his fans deserve. Every song on this album is absolutely fantastic. The songs stick with you all day, and you can often catch yourself singing them all the time, especially if you can relate them to your life. I look forward to the next PUJOL album.
