Book Description

March 1, 2001
This is change A of Revision 4. It contains over 400 new or updated pages from the 1999 release. Updated internal links and bookmarks also provided improved navigation over the government release of this publication. Revision 4. was a comprehensive update and reorganization of the previous revisions of the United States Navy Diving Manual. It is divided into 5 standalone volumes. The dive manual is updated to provide the latest procedures and equipment currently being utilized by military divers. It also includes two entirely new procedures to provide greater flexibility for diving operations. These chapters are: Chapter 10 on Nitrogen-Oxygen (NITROX) Operations and the Diving at High Altitude section of Chapter 9.

This revision is a compilation of input and review by navy divers involved in all aspects of diving operations. Experts from every area of military diving were consulted on specifics in their field and also utilized to make a review of the finished version. It is published by the United States Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command.

This review is from: United States Navy Diving Manual, Revision 4, Including March 2001 Change A (over 400 new or revised pages) (CD-ROM)
Every serious diver, every diving medical specialist, every hyperbaric specialist must have this complete, excellent reference. I recommend the CD ROM because the paper volumes are massive (and much more expensive). The book contains an excellent history of diving, a comprehensive discussion of diving physiology, as well as the various technical aspects of diving, mixed gases, diving medicine and others. Included are check lists, photos, diagrams, etc. This is a world-class reference.
