This review is from: United States Army in Vietnam Combat Operations: Taking the Offensive, October 1966 To October 1967 (Hardcover)
This book describes ground operations in Vietnam during a single, critical year of the war. The author provides brilliant detail of each campaign including factors such as morale, weather, and leadership. US, NVA, VC and ARVN forces are equally covered. For example, my old unit 2/502 was engaged in several of the battles described in this volume, and in one case it was pointed out that troop strength was lessened prior to the battle because many of the men were suffering from food poisoning from a hot meal brought out to them that day. You don't find detail like that in very many resources. My only regret concerning this book is that it doesn't cover the remainder of the war.
