What is this mess?,

This review is from: Units in the City (Audio CD)
Who keeps giving out record deals to cats that can't flow and don't talk about anything at all worth hearing? He must be real good friends with Gucci Mane to get this shot, because I know of and heard plenty of artists that should've been signed over this dude. Some of the beats are not too bad, but they're wasted by probably the most annoying voice I ever heard on the mic. That song Dey Know actually is the only good song on this CD, and that ain't saying much. I know there is a market for everything and to each his own, but this guy is garbage straight up.

Please Lo, Please Lo... No Mo', No Mo' {1 ½ Stars},

This review is from: Units in the City (Clean) (Audio CD)
You know, I was never a big fan of Magoo, but he was tolerable over Timbaland's production. This time out, he dropped Timbaland (which is ALWAYS a bad idea), bought some incredibly goofy lookin' sunglasses, and turned in his best Rick Ross impression. The thing that irks me the most is that he changed his name to Shawty Lo and started rapping like Young Jeezy instead of giving us the Q-Tip imitation that he's been known for all these years. He's never been all that great on the mic, but Magoo...I mean, Lo...really embarrasses himself this time out. Joints like "Dunn, Dunn" and "100,000" are straight up corny. As a matter of fact, every song on this album is doo doo, straight up. He basically made the same song 15 times and he's obviously fooled a small number of people on Amazon -- at press time, two people -- into thinking this album is original or, at the very least, noteworthy when it's nothing more than a link in the chain of terrible "music" flooding the market. And what's up with the whispering over every track? He runs Bankhead talking like that? lol Well, if he runs Bankhead -- which I highly doubt -- then he should probably tell a good number of them to buy this album as I'm afraid that's the only way he'll keep from going wood on the charts.
The only two positives I can think of is the fact that Magoo/Shawty Lo kept it under an hour. The production, though terribly generic, is good for bouncing to as well -- thus the ½ star I gave it. I find it gives me the energy to do my daily chores with zeal. Outside of that, this album is a steaming lump of zebra poo. Units In The City is simply another in the long line of forgettable "dope boy" albums. Fans (?) will play it to death and move on once it wears off in a week or two. I'm pretty sure this album will be making a pilgrimage in staggering numbers to a dollar bin near you within the next 4 or 5 months -- you can quote me on that. I can't recommend this album to anyone, but if you must own this, wait until that happens. Or, you could download the lead single for free and keep it movin'. Standout Tracks: They Know (Dey Know)

CD sucks,
This review is from: Units in the City (Audio CD)
Worst CD i've bought in a long time an I buy a lot of CD's. To save you the time, here's whats up with this cd. Shawty Lo is a wanna be Young Jeezy, which he proves with songs like "Let's Get It". His voice is too low and raspy to even hear if you have any bass in your car. Dey Know is a good song but you can just turn on the radio to here that. Don't buy it, it sucks, hopefully Shawty Lo will never make another album again.
