Awesome mount,

This review is from: Universal Flat Panel Mount for Displays Up To 40" (Electronics)
It's difficult to get a sense of the stability of this mount from just looking at the photo. I had some reservations about it, especially given that it only mounts to a single stud.
But, I saw it in a local store and instantly knew that it would definitely be sturdy enough. The entire mount is solidly constructed and well made. The wall-mount portion uses three heavy lag screws, and are offset slightly from each other, so that the screws do not all hit the same wood grain on your stud. My other concern was that it is listed as for a maximum of 40" display. I wanted to put my 42" Toshiba on it. The Sanus website lets you pick your manufacturer/model of display and they recommend a mount for you. Even at 42", this mount was recommended by the manufacturer. (Note: the mount specifies a max of 80 pounds. The Toshiba 42hl196 is listed as 63 lb after you remove the desk stand.) Once mounted, my TV can rotate almost a full 180d to allow viewing from either extreme angle in my living room. And to have it extend 20" out from the wall is amazing. The only minor downside, is that because the wall-mount portion only mounts to a single stud, you cannot precisely place the bracket ANYwhere on the wall that you would like. Thus the TV cannot be placed as precisely as you might like. However, given the full range of positions available via the swing-arm, it is not an issue at all. Oh... and I liked the black one, but a silver one is available too.

Sanus Articulating TV Wall Mount,

Sanus makes the superior product in this class of goods. All is very well constructed, the holes all fit the TV perfectly, it seems very secure when mounted on the wall, and the extensioin and tilt is exactly as advertised for the 40" Sony TV I installed in my office. I recommend this product without equivacation.

If there is anyone like me out there, I normally purchase an item - take it out of the box - attempt to set it up - if I get stuck - then I reach for the directions. The instructions included with this mount were good in detail, great in illustration. I used this mount to hang my Samsung 40" LCD. Because of the weight restrictions and diameter limits, I first verified on the Sanus website that this was compatible with my TV. Setup was simple, attach arm to the TV - attach bracket to the wood stud - place arm on bracket. This could have been done by one person, but because of the weight of the mount (felt as heavy as the TV), my father in-law helped me lift the TV onto the bracket. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a mount for 32" to 40" TV

No need for extra adapter plates---QUALITY,

This review is from: Universal Flat Panel Mount for Displays Up To 40" (Electronics)
The first thing you notice about this mount , even before you open the box, is that is will probably be a quality mount. It IS . Construction , materials , parts are all one of the best. BUT if you read that adapters will be needed please see here , listed from the box . The HDTVs this mount will fit, right out of the box, are VESA Hole Patterns : 100x100, 200x100,200x200,300x200,300x300 & 400x300. I ordered the adapter plates since I had read they would be needed for a Sony Bravia XBR Series KDL 40XBR9 . Most of the Wall Mounts with the Full-Motion design I needed , and which were reviewed seemed to state that the Sony TVs always needed the adapters. The TV above is a VESA 300x300 and has the same VESA hole pattern which reviewers had stated they needed to purchase the adapters 'after' they began to install the Mount/TV. One said he had to go to the Manfacturer's web site and pay $168.00 + SH for the two adapter plates , this after he had already paid $249.00 + S&H for the Mount . I repeat, you do not need the plates for the Sony or any of the other VESA Patterns I listed above . I will be returning the adapters to Amazon. Of course Amazon is great at anything you need to return, and there will be no problem. One last note, Amazon has this Mount , as I write this, for $144.85 with free shipping. Sanus has it on their site for almost $250 + $168 for the adapter plates, if you DO need the adapter plates, Plus S&H .
I am listing all the information about the Mount and the VESA Hole Patterns etc.. , with the box sitting on the table beside me as I type. I myself would have appreciated this information when I was searching the Web for a mount, and hope this helps others. I only wish I had the means to upload pictures to Amazon , of the back of the box with the information I have used . It is a great quality mount and does not need any extra adapters for any hole patterns listed above, which will fit 99% plus of the Flat LCD TVs in the 26"-42" range . It lists on the box that it fits HDTVs 26" - 42" , not the up to 40" stated in the description. The only thing different about this Mount and the Sanus with the 'S ' after the model # is the 'S" means silver color and the 'S' version is about $5 more . Have a Wonderful Christmas or Season of your Belief , and a Happy New Year.

As the title states, this mount is an EXCELLENT choice for hanging 15 to 40" LCDs or Plasmas. But, the description and box are a bit misleading. I bought this to mount my Sony KDL-40S4100 LCD and thought it would be a '1,2,3' operation. Not so. Sony decided to expanded the VESA mounting holes to 300x300mm and the mount only provides holes for 100x100mm, 200x200mm or a combination of both. That's where the frustration came in. Since I really like the 'beefy-ness' of the mount/arm, I decided to keep it and fabricate an adapter to accomodate my TV. I used a 1/8" thick piece of aluminum and drilled 3/16" holes for the TV and used the 200mm spaced holes. Using M6x20mm screws, all went well... and is as sturdy as can be.
To sum it up: Pros: Very well designed, very solid construction. Price was right on Amazon! Good range of motion. Cons: Can be misleading as to what kind/size of TV you can mount. Do your homework here! Also, one more thing... Best Buy is selling this exact mount for $249.99. I paid $123.07 on Amazon with free shipping. So, shop around for the best deal. If the TV you're looking to mount can accomodate this mount, I HIGHLY recommend. You won't be disappointed. I would have rated it '5 stars' if the box and description on the Sanus website didn't say "use for mounting 15 to 40 inch TVs"... they're not all the same! Happy mounting!!!

Installed easy. Well constructed and stable. Works just as described. I had to use an adapter plate ($14) for it to fit my dynex tv.

The mount was the best priced one that I found in stores or online. It installed very easily. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a 32" or smaller tv. I have a polaroid 32" and it was hard to find a mount that had adapters for a 400x200 vesa pattern. The one stud application was also a necessity for me. Will buy again when I buy another tv here in a couple of months.

I purchased this mount because I needed to be able to watch tv from both straight on and also 90 degrees away from the wall it's mounted on. I have a 32" tv.
The mount is extremely solid and moves with ease (and this can be easily adjusted so it moves with a very light touch, or with more force if you want it to stay put). The metal is very sturdy and would have no issues putting a 40" tv on it. It pivots all the way to 90 degrees, so it is perpendicular to the wall it is mounted on. When I want it against the wall, it folds up nicely, giving the appearance that it is statically mounted on the wall. it only sticks out a couple of inches. Wire management is acceptable but not idea- it comes with zip tie like clips that snap into the bracket. I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat if I had the need. Amazon has a relatively great price on this as usual.

I have Three wall mounted TVs, with three different Sanus mounts. This is after endless research hours and reading hundreds of revues. I may have spent a few more dollars than I could have but these TVs will still be there after the next 8.0 earthquake here in California. The VM 400 was the only mount of the three that used only one wall stud for anchoring. To me this is only a factor if you are mounting a plasma set that may approach the maximum weight tolerance (100lbs).
[...]. Most LCDs are well within tolerence. After finding the closest stud where you want the TV to go with a stud finder, find the true edges of the stud with a small finish nail and mark with pencil. Then draw a PLUMB line down the center between the nail holes. This is where you will be drilling the three mounting holes using the steel plate as a template. Play It safe and replace the black cast iron bolts in the Sanus pack with silver zink coated steel lag bolts (Home Depot, cheap). Remember, the center of the stud is NOT the center of your TV. Your TV will be 3 1/2 inches one way or the other depending on which side you put on the elbow bracket. In my honest opinion, unless you need this mount for a corner application, it looks best in a recessed area with some soft backlighting behind it.

This mount is very solid and strong. I used it to hang a 32" Toshiba LCD TV in my spare room /exercise room. I installed it myself with no problems in about an hour. (Although most folks will probably want help lifting the TV to place it on the mount.) The biggest issue for me was making dead sure the fasteners were centered into the stud for a good solid hold. The mount works well, swivels easily and once set, holds the TV in place with no 'creep'. I am very pleased with it, and highly recommend it.
