5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, my Level-Ett!
Sorry, I couldn't resist! Anyway, I have a walk-out basement on a fairly steep sloping lot. Before I got this attachment I had to take a hand axe and cut a depression in the ground for one leg of the ladder every time I wanted to do something. I have a natural wood lap siding that needs to be resealed every few years so you can imagine the kind of fun I've been having...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleased with results
I used my ladder yesterday to clean out some gutters and was pleased with the results of the Universal Level Stabilizer. I will agree with the other reviews in that it takes a bit of work to mount them on the ladder, especially if you have a Costco extension ladder such as I did. Installation took about 1 1/2 hours. The only reason I gave this 3 stars and not 4 was...

I have a natural wood lap siding that needs to be resealed every few years so you can imagine the kind of fun I've been having. Not only does this thing do everything as advertised, you'll find that the strength of your ladder is degraded little, if any. Top quality construction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend purchasing to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Safety and Durability, March 7, 2000

One of the safest and most durable tools I own. Saves time on the job due to its self leveling ability. Very well built and safer than other products on the market. Easy to install.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install, works well, November 16, 2004

Unlike the similar Werner product, in my case installation of this leveler set required only minor modification to the ladder itself - four ¼" holes drilled into each rear rail below the first rung - installation took about 20 min, and the ladder could be easily returned to it's original configuration if desired. (This ladder, a Werner 24" 250lb rated aluminum model, had smooth rails after the feet were unbolted, other designs (such as those which carry the feet on straps riveted to the rails) would require more changes - though unusually still less than to install the Werner unit.)

The leveler legs adjust in ¾" increments and are positioned by pressing a button which allow the selected leg to drop, you then shift the ladder a bit one side or the other until the leg moves either up or down to the point where a spring loaded pin engages a hole in the leg.

As someone noted above, this device does add a few pounds to the ladder's weight, which might be an issue for someone working alone with a long, heavy ladder.

I used the included hardware for the installation; I'll keep a eye on it to see if any corrosion issues develop.

----

Update: After 3 years of use and 100% outdoor storage, these are still working well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Study,solid, easy to install,convenient to use, November 24, 2003

Sturdy, well made. Easy to install-some of the pre-drilled holes in my Werner ladder already matched. Unlike some other levelers I hear people complain about, it required no sawing and there was no apparent chance of destroying the ladder. The only thing I did different was I used high grade stainless steel fasteners to install them, rather than the bright zinc fasteners that came in the package. There was no increased wobble in use, even with the ladder at full extension.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for working on sloping land, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Universal Level-Ett DM101 Ladder Stabilizer (Tools & Home Improvement)
My house sits on a hilly lot and every time I used the ladder to clean out the gutters or do some painting, I would have to get some scrap lumber or bricks to level my ladder. This was not only inconvenient, but unsafe as well. I finally broke down and purchased these levelers and they work great. They took about 10 minutes to install and are easy to use. They are also significantly cheaper than the Werner levelers. I have since installed another pair on my other ladder. For me these are a must have item and I highly recommend them to anyone who has to use a ladder on uneven ground.

I first want to say that this is my first review on Amazon, this product was just so good I had to write it up.
I have a sloped lot, about 10 foot grade. Getting on a ladder was a nightmare , having to use bricks, rocks, or boards just to get it level. (nevermind stable).
I bought this item for my Lousville 24 foot Aluminum ladder from Home Depot. Installation was a cinch. The hardest part was getting the old feet off. There was a small bracket that was riveted to the ladder. I just used my 1/4 drill bit to "carve" it out. Next, 4 more holes, and a socket wrench to install the bolts, and it was done. Total 8 bolts.(about 45 minutes with the right tools).
I tested it with the Xmas lights this year. It is about an 18foot reach to my eaves on 1 side. What a DREAM. A straight , STABLE ladder under foot. The pin and socket mechanism is easy to use. Just set the ladder straight , push the button and the foot drops the the needed level. Best of all with both sides almost any slop is negotiable. What this product does is make you feel confident on a ladder when using it on a sloped lot. And that is worth its weight in gold. The Xmas lights are up and it was so much more relaxing having safe, stable footing.
I will doing alot more work with my ladder now that I feel safe and stable one it.
Don't wait another day if you have been in this situation , you will not regret it.

These are not only easy to install ( less than an hour), but they perform flawlessly! If you have never used them before, the increased confidence you feel when 20-30 feet in the air is worth ten times the price. Imagine, no matter how uneven the surface, your ladder sits absolutely rock solid..EVERYTIME!!! Quit thinking about them and just GET THEM NOW! I now have two sets.

These stabilizers work great while working on uneven ground. Much safer than propping objects under the legs of the ladder and hoping they will stay. Fully adjustable and easy to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best!, July 1, 2006
This review is from: Universal Level-Ett DM101 Ladder Stabilizer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I narrowed my choice down to the Level-Ette or the newer Werner Auto leveler. I decided on the Level-ette because of the reviews I had read here and on price- $20 cheaper than the Werner unit. I just finished installing the Level-ette unit on my aluminum Werner ladder, tested its function, and had the ladder back on the rack in my garage in 30 minutes!! From what I read about the Werner auto unit, one could spend an entire afternoon just installing the things! I think that this is one of those cases where "simpler is better". If you need ladder levelers for your ladder for use on a sloped lot, I highly recommend the Level-Ette. Of course you could spend an entire afternoon with the Werner unit if you'd prefer- I chose not to. Besides, I've grown suspicious of any product that is advertised as "automatic"- especially one that you may very well be depending on for your safety!

This ladder stabilizer works great! It's light, easy to install and easy to adjust. We're doing a major remodeling project. When our contractor saw the stabilizer in action he couldn't wait to get his hands on one.
