Best sounding Platters ever,
By Long Distance Voyager (Hong Kong, China) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Universal Masters Collection (Audio CD)
This is The Platters greatest hits CD issued outside USA with 17 songs altogether and is the best sounding one you could find in the market. Remastered from original master tapes, this CD provides you with the stereo (genuine stereo) versions of 'Smoke gets in your eyes', 'Twilight time', I'll never smile again', 'Harbour lights' and 'Red sails in the sunset'. Even though there are only 17 songs in this collection and has space to accommodate more, I still highly recommend it as the remastered sound (both stereo and mono) is very good. It's worth all the money spent.

Great sound - great songs. Lots of memories here and, as stated by another person, the songs in stereo really sound top-notch, but they all are great. If you like The Platters, you won't be disappointed.

This is the platter to buy, if you are looking for the original Buck Ram produced Mercury recordings of the wonderful PLATTERS. Such great singers, such lush background music. Buck Ram...where ever you are, thanks for all you did in bringing this group to the public.

Tony Williams.....the magic touch,

What can you say about a singer that was irreplacable? I remember first hearing the voice of Tony Williams on "The Great Pretender" in 1955 and being literally blown away at the age of seven! And guess what? Here I am fifty years later and I'm STILL blown away by his incredible singing. Imagine being the Platters in 1960 and trying to replace one of the greatest singers in the history of pop music. Out of the millions of people on the planet there was probably no one who could have. Buy this CD and find out why.
