I purchased the Nyko Metal pedal to replace my GHWT pedal. I had already broken one GHWT pedal, and my current one was showing signs of wear, so I decided to go ahead and purchase this pedal to see if it was any better than the stock pedal.
My first impression out of the box was that the pedal feels nice and sturdy. It feels like this pedal will stand up to a bit of abuse. Unfortunately, that is really this pedals only good point. After receiving the pedal I plugged it in and started playing, my scores were noticeably lower than they were when using the stock GHWT pedal. I thought maybe I just need to get used to it, so I spent the last two weeks using this pedal in order to form a solid opinion: This thing is no good. One problem with this pedal is that the spring has very little tension, and there is no way to adjust it. Due to this lack of resistance the pedal has no "Bounce". You press it down, and you practically have to lift your foot completely in order for the pedal to come back up. This makes fast kick notes extremely difficult. Another problem with this pedal is that if you have carpeted floors this pedal will slide around everywhere. There is nothing on this pedal to give it good surface friction on carpet. You can add a PVC cross-bean to your drum set to hook this pedal on and keep it more secure, but you then lose the ability to place the pedal wherever is most comfortable. Lastly, the response of the pedal leaves something to be desired. Songs with fast kicks or double-kicks are practically impossible to keep combo going. It seems to work okay on songs that don't have a lot of kick, but even then the pedal seems to drop notes occasionally (maybe a 3% drop note rate). Connecting this pedal and the GHWT pedal in double-bass configuration does not work. Drops notes like crazy when set up like this. After a couple of weeks I decided to switch back to my stock GHWT pedal(with some modifications to hopefully keep it from breaking). My scores were immediately higher again. I can keep combo on fast songs without problem. If you are looking for an improvement to the stock GHWT pedal, this pedal is not what you are looking for.

I finally received the Nyko Metal Pedal (NMP), and put it through a quick test on both Rock Band 2 (RB2) and Guitar Hero World Tour (GHWT) on my Xbox 360.
As far as video game drum controllers go, I have the Rock Band, GHWT, RB2, and even the Rock Revolution controllers. My first RB1 pedal cracked into two pieces. My second RB1 pedal developed a similar crack, and I purchased the Blockhead Hit Kit for its replacement pedal. My first GHWT pedal went defective as well. (My RB2 pedal has since replaced the Blockhead pedal, and is going strong.) The NMP seems like the Rock Band 2 pedal design, super-sized. Both the base and the pedal itself are wider, but the overall design is similar. I prefer the larger size, as opposed to the Blockhead Hit Kit's smaller pedal. In addition, for GHWT, you finally have a pedal that doesn't move during gameplay or tilt from side to side. Also included is a dual pedal adapter, which is basically a splitter for the input jack. The NMP + RB2 pedal seemed to work fine for me in RB2. However, the NMP + GHWT pedal did not; the NMP would not always register. As soon as the GHWT pedal was removed from the splitter, the NMP would register every time. Perhaps on GHWT, you need two NMPs for it to work properly. I'm not a fan of the art design, but it's under your foot all the time so who cares! Pros: * Like a super-size version of the Rock Band 2 pedal (that's a good thing) * Includes a splitter for double bass pedals Cons: * Double pedal doesn't seem to work with NMP + GHWT pedal combo Bottom Line: You need this if you have a cracked pedal OR you want a Rock Band 2-style pedal for use with Guitar Hero World Tour.

This was a replacement peddle for guitar hero world tour. It actually works a whole lot better than the one that came with the game. It's bulkier that the original so you don't feel like your going to break it easy. The only gripe is that the cord is shorter than I like but thats just a minor gripe. This is a must by for any guitar hero or rock band player.

The original bass pedal that came with my Rock Band 2 set lasted for over a year until the plastic base cracked. So I purchased this pedal at Best Buy thinking it looked like a sturdy replacement.
Wrong. Dead wrong. After playing 4-5 times the plastic base cracked and split apart, making the thing useless. I'll be buying the official pedal replacement this time around. Thanks for nothing, Nyko.

This is a terrible pedal. I just took it out of the box, and it's been a huge letdown.
When using it as a double pedal with a splitter, the Nyko pedal only registers about 50% of all bass drum notes. It also weakens the standard black pedal by redirecting 50% of its power. I made sure to take off the yellow strip underneath, I made sure the splitter was set to "Guitar Hero" and I made sure that all connections were solid. Still didn't work. I'm returning it and looking for another brand, if one even exists. Very disappointed.

First, I liked the idea of the splitter to use as a second pedal for dual base that can be used for both games. This was my only reason for wanting this, as both my RB2 pedal and my GHWT pedal is in fine condition after much use.
The problem with this product is that when the splitter is used, pressing the secondary pedal in the down position between notes restricts the other pedal from registering. Therefore, you must have both pedals in the unpressed position for the opposite one to register. This causes fatique quickly for the leg that is not in use as you constantly must have the pedal in the up position. The second problem I had with this pedal is that it had to be released about 75% upwards after pressing it down to register the next hit. So for quick base notes, you almost have to raise your foot up and down the entire full range of the pedal to register the next note. Basically you have to work a heck of alot harder than you should. My original pedals register notes just barely bringing your foot back up from the down position. The only thing I liked about this pedal was the width. So for me this product failed on both fronts. After an hour of trying different things, I went back to my orignal drum pedals and it instantly felt much better. I put this in the closet and will only keep it for temporary use between original drum pedals if they should ever break.

So....as far as I can tell the Nykko Metal Pedal is a piece of crap. I ordered two of them with the intent of gaining double pass pedal functionality through a rock band 2 drum set. To start one pedal I received was completely defective and does not work at all. As far as the double bass functionality goes, it works if you want to play at 60 bpm. If one pedal is pressed down, the other ceases to function, making it impossible to play actual double bass speeds. Maybe it works with ghwt drums, but it certainly does not work with rock band drums. I'm very disappointed with the quality of this product and would not recommend it to anyone unless you just want a replacement for your busted rock band pedal (just hope you don't get one from the defective batch)

I bought the Guitar Hero World Tour drums and after a few months the base drum pedal chord wiring separated from the pedal sensor and while trying to fix it I noticed that the plastic around the chord was sticky - as thought it was melting. I tried to repair it but gave up, and started searching for a replacement. I saw this and was concerned by some reviews. However, I couldn't be happier. The price was right, it's much more solid that the original, and it works as expected. As noted by other reviewers, there is a yellow piece of plastic you need to remove before using the pedal, there is a switch to select either Rock Band or Guitar Hero play, and the chord is a bit short but it is easily stretched so that it comfortably rests on the floor. I don't expect that I'll need the double bass or pound it at expert level. I highly recommend this product.

This pedal is worth every penny I paid for it! My 17 year old son broke 2 of the plastic pedals before I found this one, He plays rock band at expert level so he is constantly slamming this pedal to the floor and it has held up GREAT!!! It is crazy how reasonably price it is, and it's not like one of those metal pedals that you slide onto your broken plastic one, this is the whole thing that just plugs into the drum set. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who plays some serious rock band!!!

The product was not at all durable like the company NYKO that makes it claims. I was very dissatisfied because I had the original kick petal that came with the drum set for 6 months without breaking and this Metal Pedal broke in less than 1 day of use. I used the same amount of intensity while using the metal pedal as the original pedal (i was not any harder on the medal pedal at all) and the plastic receiver that registers the "kick drum" cracked and now will not work properly. So to any fans of the game i strongly recommend not to buy this sorry excuse for a kick pedal. Universal Metal Pedal
