Product Description

Egg protein is considered the gold standard by nutritionists due to its amino acid score and high biological value. When used according to directions, Universal Nutrition System Milk & Egg Protein supports muscles, strength and recovery from high-intensity exercise. Old school bodybuilders grew up on milk protein and egg white protein. For them, we have milk and egg, an ideal combination of milk protein (casein and lactalbumin) and egg protein (albumin). Research has shown that the specific blend of proteins found in this protein supplement can help promote significant muscle growth when combined with anaerobic resistance training. As a great-tasting shake, milk and egg Protein contains only slow-acting proteins and is formulated to be easily digestible and readily utilized by your body. To optimize your muscle gains and to prevent muscle catabolism, it is highly recommended to take in protein every three hours.

This 1.5-pound jar of protein powder of $13 for 21 servings, and has a Vanilla flavor. The price-per-serving ratio is good. The flavor, however, is just okay.
Each scoop of this powder has 126 calories, 2 grams of fat, 1 gram of sugar, 24 grams of protein, and the rest is trivial. There's a photo of the Supplement Facts in the product description if you're interested.

You're supposed to mix this with 12 ounces of liquid, and consume 1 gram of protein per 2 pounds of desired body weight per day, so the serving size varies. For me, that's 92.5 grams of protein per day (for a desired weight of 185 pounds) and means almost four servings (including 48 ounces of whatever liquid it's served in) of this powder. The flavor is just okay. It's not horrible, but it's not good either. Mixing with water will give you a runny, yet powdery concoction. Mixing with milk will give you the best results, but the flavor is still just bland. Either way, I'd say to mix it with 8 to 10 ounces of liquid (rather than the suggested 12 ounces) or else you won't even taste the vanilla.

For an everyday protein, it's okay. For a pre- or post-workout protein, I'd recommend it. The flavor makes me not want to drink it every day, unless I'm as thirsty as I get after an intense workout.

I don't understand the mixed reviews. This is very good and I can see results when switching from other brands. The taste of vanilla is very good.

I used Vince Gironda's milk and egg powder back in the 70's. Universal far surpasses that one in both effectiveness and taste.

Supplements have come a long way.

The Amazon description is wrong. In the one I saw, the ingredients list was pretty simple, with no artificial sweeteners or "weird" additives. What I received had a totally different ingredients list, including certain things which I don't eat (like sucralose/splenda). Product returned.

first let me say that i have not purchased this from amazon only my local gym it is cheaper on here so i will be buying it from here soon as far as the product my trainer introduced it to me and my friend, since we was trying to lose weight and build lean muscle, i have used it roughly 2 months and love it i drink it every morning and it curbs my appetite i can go till 1:00 or later before i start felling hungry where before i was hungry from the moment i woke till i went to bed, i also drink my shake after my workouts in the evening 3 times a week. as far as the taste if you just mix with water for me it is a little hard to swallow, i blend up frozen blueberry's and strawberry's which i thaw and add 2/3 cup water mix with powder in a shaker pretty good stuff you can also leave berries frozen to make shake thicker and more like a milk shake if you add powder to blender to mix it will be a little foamy that's why i mix it in a shaker if you decide to buy it try different ways till you find the way you like to drink it!

In an effort to increase my intake of daily protein, I purchased this product to drink at bedtime. I put a scoop of it in my Blender Bottle along with 1/3 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a few ice cubes, and a dash of SF vanilla or almond syrup. It blends very easily and tastes very nice and smooth with none of the all-too-common chalkiness you get with other whey protein powders. I will purchase again!

I used universal as a young bodybuilder.
Now i am using it again as an older bodybuilder. Much improved taste. Mixes almost as well as designer protein and has an excellent amino profile. So inexpensive. Why be like everyone else. This is my choice.

Good Stuff.

Does not taste that great, but makes a good small shot of protein.
I do a couple of ounces of cold water and a scoop, shake it up, and just shoot it.

Good for the price.
Mixes well.
Taste is not that great, but it's a good quality product.
(As all Universal products usually are!)

Very absorbable protein that doesn't give me heart burn. Within 1 hour of ingesting, I feel the energy available to me so I can get through my day. I cannot digest meat protein like I used to, so I will continue to use this protein source.
