Exceptional Supplement: SCIENCE not HYPE,
By
This review is from: Universal Nutrition Torrent (Health and Beauty)
Straight outta "Nutrient Timing" (Ivy & Portman). This stuff is the embodiment of the controlled studies science post workout complements of Glucose, Protein, Glutamine, Leucine, and Creatine. It hits your body, activating insulin and accelerating protein synthesis in that critical 30 mins post training anabolic window. And the stuff tastes amazing to boot, even though it contains hydrolyzed whey; green apple rocks!
I have a "REALLY" tough time gaining mass, but using this stuff over 3 weeks I gained 5 lbs of muscle while better shredding my abs. Who knew you could still loose fat and gain muscle outside of initial strength training? The only criticism I have is that it has all those idiotic proprietary made up words on the nutrition label like, VOLUBILIZING, CREATONIC, ANA-IMA-DORK-FOR-BELIEVING. Apparently Universal fell prey to the same nonsensical words the snake oil salesmen make up to dazzle you. Overall, a near perfect post exercise supplement.

Absolutley Necessary,

I have been lifting weights for 17 years, and in that time have practically tried every supplement possible. In the end this is my most favorite post-workout mix after starting it 2 months ago. If you lift hard or endure a grueling cardio session, this is the best supplement to gulp down immediately upon completion. I know the man who initially developed the ingredients to this before Universal took it over, and the guy is hardcore, knows his science, and can drop the weight and gain it at the drop of a dime. It has a very specific mixture ratio of protein, dextrose sugar, creatine, Leucine, etc., that maximizes results. After an hour of hard work your body's glycogen stores have been completely depleted and your body starts cannibalizing muscle and not fat. That is the danger zone and where this product get's that glycogen back in line, which also helps deliver the protein more efficiently.
Results? Well, in the last 2 months I have dropped significant body fat (I'm now around 6-7%) while on a strict diet but still maintaining strength and the same muscle mass. Any serious lifter knows how hard that is, and I give credit to Torrent for helping me do that. My only negative is that while the Cherry flavor is ok (reminds me of the old Juicy Juice my mom used to make me drink as a kid) the green apple is better. Green apple taste just like a Jolly Rancher, a bit of a treat at the end of your workout. ha! Drink UP!

Almost perfect post workout supplement,

This shake has everything. Aminos, complex carbs, creatine and protein. It's almost perfect. I would prefer to see more than 20g of protein per 3 scoops(That's right kids, three weeks per container if you DON'T work out every day). 4 stars cuz the idea is right and it's the perfect science on post workout nutrition but getting big is really about diet, not supplements. Oh, and it tastes like cherry cough drops. But if you're serious about bodybuilding taste shouldn't matter.

After going through trial and error with many supplements over 3 years, I've come to like this one the best for the consistent delivered results. It's a blend of protein, carbs, creatine, and vitamins all related to recovery after a workout. Definitely recommended.

Best post workout drink I have used,

This review is from: Universal Nutrition Torrent (Health and Beauty)
It has a great mix of creatine, fast acting carbs, and aminos. The first time I drank it I thought I was going to vomit (cherry flavored) but in a change I cannot explain by the third or fourth workout I absolutely loved drinking the stuff. I will often have a one scoop drink prior to my workout and two scoops after. As long as I am consistent with it, I do notice I am less sore and rebound from the workout better then when I am on the cheap and don't use it for a month or so. It has everything I am looking for post workout (and pre when I am not looking for a caffeine product) in one package and I don't have to mess with mixing creatine into something else. I would recommend this product.basics: 28 serving per container (3 scoops) 302 calories 52g carbs/27g are sugars 20g of protein 3g creatine complex potassium and sodium in low replacement levels

Very good, though heavy on the sugar,

This review is from: Universal Nutrition Torrent Sour Citrus 3.28-Pounds (Health and Beauty)
Torrent has an excellent post-workout nutrient profile. Protein peptides, BCAAs, creatine, electrolytes, and simple sugars - it's all there. I finished a jug of it a while back and can confirm the green apple flavor (not sure if it's offered anymore) tastes very good. One thing I did notice though is that the sugar hits you VERY hard. This product was intensely sweet for me and left me feeling like I was insulin shock for a while after my workout. The product is very thin when mixed with water and doesn't satisfy hunger for very long at all. Plan on having a meal within an hour or so after taking this shake. So if you are at the ragged edge of nutrient deprivation after you workout, this would be an excellent option. However for many people I believe something a little thicker and a tad slower digesting would be a better option - especially if you took an intra-workout supplement while you were training.

Cut down your recovery time!,

On my second tub, most say this is the best PWO out there, most definitely shaves off 1-2 days of recovery(IMO if you're gonna get the DOM's , you're gonna get the DOM's, no way around it). I take the recommended 3 scoops before I pack up to leave in the locker room, eat a banana on my out of the gym (most perfect insulin spiking fast digesting carb IMO). Profile contains a good amount of creatine so I guess I'll have to find something else when I cycle off of that. Cherry Blast is really not that bad, my first tub was Green Apple Avalanche, my god that stuff was disgusting. Be sure to eat some actual high protein/slow digesting carb foods an hour so after you whey protein shake (which I drink half after Torrent)... whenever I don't I'll runs clear through the next day.
