5.0 out of 5 stars Love it
We have had the MX 3000 for about three years. I love it!

I did all of the programming myself. I thought it was fun. We often change the devices it controls. I cannot imagine how often it would be sent to a technician if I had to rely on someone else to program the devices. I found the Apple TV the hardest device to program.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buying MX-3000 was a big expensive mistake
We splurged on a $20K home theatre bonanza, all of which is pretty awesome except the mx-3000 universal remote. There is a constantly fluctuating variation in the sensitivity and latency of the touch pad. I feel like the biggest sucker in the world sitting here on the sofa having to make 10 attempts at pressing channel "500." After 3 seconds it takes whatever you've...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, December 27, 2008

We have had the MX 3000 for about three years. I love it!

I did all of the programming myself. I thought it was fun. We often change the devices it controls. I cannot imagine how often it would be sent to a technician if I had to rely on someone else to program the devices. I found the Apple TV the hardest device to program.

I have programmed other universal remotes including the Harmony 1000. I find the Harmony 1000 harder to program, there are not enough options. The MX 3000 is the only remote that I have used that gives me all of the options that I need for my devices. It also lets me use my own Icons so that I can easily see my devices.

After using the MX 3000 for three years, the hard keys have become sticky and today I dropped it, it landed on a corner of a UPS and I broke the screen. I cannot tell you how upset I am. I am hoping the screen can be replaced.

Now I am adding the devices my MX 3000 controls to the Harmony 1000. Not fun. Not fun at all. I want my MX 3000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Universal Remote Control MX-3000, November 9, 2007
This review is from: Universal Remote Complete Control MX-3000 IR RF Color Touch Screen Remote Control (Electronics)
I've been through a lot of remotes in the past and currently have been using this item for over a year. In short not a problem to date. The best remote I've ever had. Best functions are the RF capability which allow you to do anything from virtually anywhere when using the MRF300. Only challenge would be the programing of this. If you don't know what you're doing you're going to need to have technician program it for you. The included software is mid line user friendly and you do have to have some knowledge of moving things around and programing. I had no problem but have a good technical background.

The software is not compatable with Vista but only XP. Seems they stopped supporting the software as well since the updates are no longer available. You can however go online and download all kinds of programs for it though. Some are even free but the cool ones do cost. If you are knowledgable enough you can even create your own. I chose the latter.

Again in short. Top Notch Remote. I wont move to another one. This one controls my 1000 sq ft theater including screen and many RF light controls. Just can't keep the kids out. That's what the biometric door lock is for. Thumb print entry. Gotta love it. Both of them!!!!

We splurged on a $20K home theatre bonanza, all of which is pretty awesome except the mx-3000 universal remote. There is a constantly fluctuating variation in the sensitivity and latency of the touch pad. I feel like the biggest sucker in the world sitting here on the sofa having to make 10 attempts at pressing channel "500." After 3 seconds it takes whatever you've been able to successfully press .. so, a few times is is only "5", then "50", then "500", then "800" (oops, you dropped your finger too close to the 8!). I promise you, it is the most frustrating, annoying thing you will ever pay $1000 for. We are very close to throwing it away and fishing out all the remotes our installers left somewhere in the theatre cabinet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good buy only with a RF transmitter, September 29, 2008
This review is from: Universal Remote Complete Control MX-3000 IR RF Color Touch Screen Remote Control (Electronics)
I have the MX3000 and it is a great remote. i saw they just came out with a black model which looks pritty cool. but the remote is great. like they said u do need some programing background in order to make this remote fit your needs. but when you do it is so cool. but this is not a remote u can just buy you really need to do the research and must get the software before you buy it to better understand the remote. after that its all good.

Nice remote for an upper end home theater. Very versatile and will control just about anything. Pretty steep learing curve from a programming standpoint and can be discouraging for someone not used to that sort of thing. Good news is that many home theater stores will program it for about $100 - $200.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another bad decision re home theater components, October 28, 2011
This review is from: Universal Remote Complete Control MX-3000 IR RF Color Touch Screen Remote Control (Electronics)
I spent about $20k on a home theater and wanted my tech to get the best of everything. I had never heard of the MX3000 before, and was sold when I heard what it was supposed to do. I did no research whatsoever...boy am I an idiot.
Form the beginning it was nothing but a pain. Let me count the ways;
1. To turn the unit on requires hitting the main button, then satellite, then main again, then satellite again before I'm in TV mode. Big pain in the ass.
2. If I want to transfer to another function, say to dim the lights, its back to main, then lights, then main again then to satellite to get to TV mode. Another pain. What happened to one touch programming or functions?
3. I have to try at least 3 or 4 time to get the 500 station. For some reason there is either a delay in the programming, or a malfunction in the button functions. Either that or my fingers are too big, which has never been a problem in the past with other units.
4. Now comes one of the biggest issues. If I want to skip ahead to avoid commercials, the unit will jump ahead in bursts of as much as 15 minutes instead of 15 or 30 seconds. I then have to go back to find the original place in the TV program. This process takes far longer than if I had just sat through the painful commercials in the first place. This is painful, time consuming, and a total waste of time.
5. Finally, last but not least, the charging unit is defective. The unit stays charged for maybe 20 minutes before the low power light comes on, and it has to be returned to the docking station. Its inconvenient for a unit that cost me over $1,000. The final straw is the dock station and power cord. One of the m is defective and it will not charge unless I twist sand turn the cord and practically stand there holding the unit while it charges. Poor quality.
In summary, if I had to do it again , I wouldn't. Oh for the good old days when we had a mere 10 remotes to deal with. it might have been cluttered, but they worked.
I'm going to try to get this unit fixed or replaced by the manufacturer. This should be good. I will keep everyone posted as to my results. I may have gotten the lemon on the tree. On the other hand if the manufacturer stands behind the product, I might be pleasantly surprised, however my life doesn't work that way usually. I suspect a battle, and no results. More to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN AMAZING REMOTE, May 3, 2005
This review is from: Universal Remote Complete Control MX-3000 IR RF Color Touch Screen Remote Control (Electronics)
The best remote on the market. I don't think there is anything better than this. A definate must for all home automation. You can put your family's photo on the screen and all you do is click your face on the screen to pull up your personal favorites.
