4.0 out of 5 stars Works
This does the job it's supposed to do. Just make sure when you change the battery, you do it within 3 minutes. I forgot about this (and lost the manual!), so I had to go looking online to figure out how to reprogram it with my personal PIN. Fortunately, it's pretty easy to find a manual online, and the alarm is working for me once again.

The battery will...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not loud enough
I could easily give this product 5 stars if it wasn't for the low volume of the alarm. Everything else works great, but the alarm could not be heard any further than 50-75 feet away. I want an alarm that will "scare" intruders.

However, for the price that I paid, I do like how well it works at detecting motion.

The battery will need to be changed every other month or so. The alarm is nice and loud, enough to wake most people, even several rooms away. If you're looking for something that's cheap and easy with no monthly service fees, this is for you.

BTW, in response to "Bill" who said there's an American flag on the unit, mine has no such thing. It's clearly marked as made in China but marketed through Universal in Maryland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Simple, September 26, 2010

It's a simple security system for your apartment not for the house(alarm is not loud enough for that). Talking about alarm it's definitely loud if you live in apartment or a loft and your neighbors will hear it. The other good thing that you can adjust entry delay, from 0, 8 or 30 sec. so does the length of the alarm. It also has a chime mode. Can be operated by battery or power adapter.

Just as advertised. Alarm is pretty loud as well as the chime. Great if your trying to protect a single room or office. Cool features such as changing the exit delay time and alarm length. But IT

I think its pimp but my friends think its lame. It is loud enough to annoy you if you forget to punch in the code but not loud enough to actually draw any attention to you apartment being robbed. Still, I kind of like its old fashioned crappy industrial design style. Its all made of cheap plastic. The instructions are easy to understand and I had it up and programmed in seconds! Takes an annoying 9v battery, who has those laying around ya know :) but its totally cheap so who can really complain!

not that many electronics are nowadays, but this product has a U.S. flag prominent in the place one might normally look for "Made In" info. In fine print it says that the product was 'engineered and designed' "In the USA" --- to the right of that is "Made in China." The company's 'code of conduct' states: "Integrity requires, among other things, being honest and candid. Deceit and subordination of principle are inconsistent with integrity." Sorry, the labeling can be seen by a reasonable person as being deceitful and less than candid. Why do they not have a Chinese Flag next to the words "Made in China?"
