Awesome!,

This CD is awesome. It has lots of my favorite songs and has a wide variety of music. There's rap, techno, pop, and rock all in one CD. It has all of the popular artists and groups including Nelly, B.G., Lil' Troy, Eiffel 65, 702, 3 Doors Down, Tonic, and Kryptonite all in one CD! Now that's what I call music!

A very good sampling of today's popular music,

This CD is well worth your money. Nearly all the songs here are great, and it samples almost every kind of music. It starts out with 6 rap songs, then follows with an R&B song, then 4 excellent dance tracks, followed by 5 rock songs, and ends with 2 adult contemporary ballads. As the review below points out, only one song is a remix but sounds so much like the original that some buyers might not even be aware it's a remix if it wasn't labled as such on the CD. This CD could be five-star quality but I took one star off because a few of the rock tracks are a bit old. "All for You" by Sister Hazel is a great song, but it's from 1997 and it seems a bit strange to hear it on a year 2000 compilation CD. The Tonic song is good too but also rather old.

Buy if for the Rap Tracks,

The first 6 songs on this latest entry into the Now and Totally Hits phenomenon are all rap songs and some of the year's best tracks: Nelly, B.G., and Juvenile are the best of the bunch. Elsewhere, Universal throws in a hodgepodge of Dance and Rock songs that are repeats from their Now series (Eifel 65, Sonique, Oleander and Tonic). Good singles on the order of "Kryptonite", "All For You", and "Back At One" might tempt you into this purchase. As will the rap tracks. There's nothing wrong with this album. If you're looking for good singles from iffy albums (Junvenile, Brian McKnight) then these type of compilations are perfect. This is a better album than Columbia's recent Platinum Hits 2000, which relied too heavily on remixes. Here only the Bloodhound Gang get remixed and the differences with the original are minimal. But with the Now and Totally Hits series coming out every 3 or 4 months, make sure you're not overlapping too much with each of these types of compilations.

Too Much Rap,
This review is from: Universal Smash Hits (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the worst compilations of new pop music on the market today. I received it as a gift from a friend who has no taste in music. Sonique's "It feels so good" will send you sailing with her warm, sexy voice, but that's about it. Other songs, like "Bling Bling" were not real radio sensations and seem out of place with this collection. Overall, this album is a manufactured piece of garbage. If you want to make rich idiots even richer, then buy this sorry album.

An OK CD...,

If you're looking for hits from 2000, these CD is about half-filled with them. Nelly's "Country Grammar," Effiel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," and Three Doors Down's "Kryptonite" are all definitely worthy of being called "Smash Hits." However, at least half of this CD contains songs that were NOT smach hits - heck, they weren't even MODEST hits!I advise you look over the track listing and decide if enough hits are included. Otherwise, look to hits packages such as "Totally Hits 2001" and the "Now!" series.

By this! It has Country Grammer by Nelly, Back That Than Up by Juvenile, a wierd song called You Know My Name by South Park Mexican (SPM), and many more! If you don't by this cd, you are doing yourself a baaaaaaaaaaaaaad thing!!! This cd diserves 5 stars. Trust me on this one.

Just OK.,

OK, some of the tracks on this CD are pretty good. But others, I can do without. The best tracks are numbers 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 13, 17, and especially, 18. The rest aren't that great and ones you can skip over. This complication CD is mostly R&B, Rap, and Rock hits. So if you're looking for Pop or Latin hits, then this is NOT the CD to get (get CDs from the NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC! series, instead). But if you like this kind of music, than this is definitely the CD to get. But pretty decent for a CD complication.

Lynz's Review,

I think that this is a really good CD for young people to have. Most will buy it b/c their friends have it, but that's not a good reason to buy it. Buy it b/c it is a great CD. Iwish that my parents would understand that, but they are too hard headed, and don't understand anything about teens! Well, that's about all that I have to say!
