5.0 out of 5 stars Other than a few bloopers, the movie was fantastic!
Luc, Veronica, and Eric (Luc's brother) star as fugitives either framed for murder (Veronica) or thought not to exist (Luc & Eric) battle to rescue themselves from the half Goverment, half mercary program of going to "Show & Tell", a scam to rip of another goverment of a lot of diamonds. 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent update of the man from the movie "Universal Solider"
This made for TV made movie is a decent update of the man that VanDamma played in the original. It still deals with the man Luc Devereaux has from being a former Unisol. The Unisol program is tracking the former solider.Luc also has a lady friend who works for the media helping him. The action is decent (considering it's for TV ) Also in this movie is Gary Busey...

There are couple of plot of plot twists along the way so I wont give them away! This movie has non stop action, thrills and searing special effects! Its a fun movie even if you have not seen the original movies !

3.0 out of 5 stars An impossible story of robotic fighting dead soldiers, February 9, 2011
In 1953, the US government made robotic-like soldiers out of dead soldiers by resurrecting them by genetic means. The recycled soldiers have no memory of their past life and no set of values other than to obey. If shot, stabbed, or the like, they can be rejuvenated by spraying a substance on the wound. When the program is revealed, the government terminated the program. Most of the "universal soldiers," as they were called, were destroyed. But a rogue element in the CIA is keeping the program alive, surreptitiously.

A reporter is in love with GR44, one of the soldiers. When GR44 is ordered by his controllers to return, he has no will of his own and complies. She follows him. She discovers GR44's brother who had been killed more than a decade ago, had been resurrected, but not made into a universal soldier. She tries to rescue him, but the two are captured. While being taken, they pass GR44 who regains some of his memory when he sees his bother.

Will GR44 and his brother be saved, or only one of them? Will GR44 be able to become normal, or will he remain somewhat robotic? Can the reporter have a meaningful relationship with him?

3.0 out of 5 stars For direct a direct to video sequel I liked it 7/10, August 25, 2009
This was a 1998 TV movie Universal Soldier Brothers in arms it stars Matt Battagila replacing Van Damme as Luc Deverux Chandra West replacing Alley Walker as Veronica Roberts Gary Buesy as Mazur Jeff Wincott as Eric Deverux & Burt Reynolds as Mentor. Story basically after the defeat of Andrew Scott/GR13 the UNI SOL project wants Luc Deverux back & they find a way to the base of operations in Chicago. Veronica finds a picture of Luc as a kid his Mother tells him he has a brother who was MIAKIA in Nam in 1959. Luc's Father can't find him so Veronica who is still wanted for murder from the 1st movie goes to Chicago to get Luc she finds Eric frozen & frees him he was a failed early attempt at a UNI SOL. So eventually Luc sees his brother turns against the UNI SOL program Eric's captured so Luc & Veronica need to save him & destroy the program & take Mazur out. The music is good the acting is decent. Not as kick @$$ as the 1st movie but a good sequel none the less.

2.0 out of 5 stars Even the totally insane Gary Busey couldn't carry this piece past 2 stars, February 21, 2011
By
This review is from: Universal Soldier 2: Brothers in Arms [VHS] (VHS Tape)
As part of an agreement between the brothers Sid, the original blu-ray edition of Universal Soldier goes to headquarters South while the VHS sequel goes to headquarters North. Now this was just fine because no matter how you slice it B is B. In fact we in the North were pretty pumped up by the thought of doing the sequel, especially knowing that the giant toothed legend Garey Busey was on the bill. In an unfortunate development turns out the sequel blows big time. Even with screen legend and Sid beloved Gary Busey on the scene the films horrible plot couldn't be brought to a place of enjoyment.

This one apparently picks up where the first one left off, just minus the budget, actors, and plot. The universal soldiers are now being created by Gary Busey to use them to help smuggle diamonds to foreign buyers. Honestly Sid was roughly 16 at the time this came out and is pretty confident we could have come up with a better plot. Really? This is what Gary Busey is choosing to use these cyborg soldiers for? Anyway Luc Deveroux from the first movie survived the original incident and teams up with some news reporter to stop the breeding of these soldiers for the wrong reason. Yeah it's pretty much even worse then it sounds.

Now one might ask why the two star rating if the movie was that bad? Well it's simple; 1 star is automatic just because Gary Busey was cast in the film and the second come from Busey getting smashed across the face with a pool stick, sending him crashing through a glass window to ultimately die from the fall. The fact that that replayed the pool stick smack in three different camera angles back to back didn't hurt either. It's really ashame being that they made a bunch of these Universal Soldier movies, but it won't deter us. Sid South will be taking care of the original and it's very likely we'll be doing the others in the franchise.

2.0 out of 5 stars pretty boring, May 3, 2007
Its not a bad made-for-tv movie, its just not very entertaining. Universal Soldier 2 continues with the Luc Devereaux character from the first Universal Soldier (then played by Van Damme, now Matt Battaglia). Also featured is Jeff Wincott, who has appeared in many terrific martial arts films.

Unfortunately the movie moves slow and is dragged out. There is rarely any action at all, and only one real fight near the end between Luc and another Universal Soldier. Wincott doesn't even have a fight in the movie - big dissapointment. The story was uninteresting, nothing more than the twisted masterminds in charge of the program luring back Luc, but he amazingly comes back to the good side on his own. Then its up to him, his girl, and his older brother Eric (Wincott) to put a stop to the guys in charge of the program, who are also ripping off another government for diamonds.

I guess I shouldn't have expected much from a tv made movie, but I expected something at least. Only good to add to the Universal Soldier, 4 movie collection.

1.0 out of 5 stars W-What is this supposed to be?!, September 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Universal Soldier 2: Brothers in Arms [VHS] (VHS Tape)
One of my favorite pastimes is getting a stupid movie and sit around with some buddies and make fun of it. When I saw this I thought to myself- I marginally respect Burt Reynolds and Gary Busey. As the pedestrian story unfolded (some mishmash about the Unisols not obeying their commands and, like, shooting somebody or some other) we were so shocked that we couldn't even think of any wise cracks to scream at the TV. I mean this was bad, folks, just plain bad. Can anyone out there tell me about how this dreck came into being? Oh yeah tell me how it ends because I couldn't take it. Was there some kind of legal battle over the name or something? Clearly inferior to the same named theatrical release featuring Jean Claude. Van-Damme. Watch at own risk. I mean it.
