3.0 out of 5 stars DSGB!! BLESS AMERICA!!
if your a pastor troy fan, like me, then this album is just like FACE OFF. nothing spectacular, but he has his own style which is why we buy his music. i listen to it, but his last 2 albums aren't the same PT from his underground days, PASTOR TROY FOR PRESIDENT and WE READY, etc. track 4 with BUN B is decent, but BUN needs to come with a different verse, he says the same...

When I've heard this CD I was surprised. It's one of the best CD's this year! So, I'm also suprised of Lil Jon-Produced Songs "Who, What, When, Where" and "If They Kill Me" - GREAT! And Bless America is also another Hot Track. There are a lot of Tight... Beats, Rhymes and Lyrics on this CD, BUY it!

The Pastor has spoken again!! Troy represented on this album. He kept it krunk but also spoke on some serious issue's goin on in the world today ya know. Lyrically this was his best performance. As far as beatz wise it wasn't. But its still real tight. My top tracks are: Universal Soldier, Are We Cuttin', If I Wasn't Rappin', Tell em it's on, I'm A Raise Me a Soldier, No Mo Play in Ga Pt. 2, Bless Ameria (Buy it for this track alone. I would recommend you buy his "I AM DSGB" album before this one but it is extremely hard to find. This how we do it down south!

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm Ready For War, I'm In These Streets, May 4, 2004
This review is from: Universal Soldier (Audio CD)
Pastor Troy has long been an underground legend in the A-Town. Ever since his beef with Master P and the menacing 'No MO Play In GA', Pastor Troy has yet to disappoint. With his first album 'We Ready, I Declare War', He proved he was the most intriguing new artist to hit the scene with fresh original beats and original lyrics. His second album and his first major release 'Face Off' was another classic even though it featured only about 8 or so new songs.

Pastor Troy returned in 2002 with his album Universal Soldier. First off this album doesn't compare to any of his previous albums so scrap that idea. This album is definitely...uhh...different. Some of the songs do have a commercial appeal to them but that doesn't mean they are plain out wick wick wack. He still has the songs with the ultimate rawness we have come to expect from Troy. Despite what many think, Are We Cuttin is a tight song...and has Troy kicking a completely different style previously unheard of from him. Timbaland keeps up with the theme of the album.

Pastor's rawness is displayed on 'Who, What, When Where?' a sinister track that is hard as bones. Gangsta. 'If I Wasn't Rappin' features the extremely underated duo UGK and is a fiyah track. 4 My Hustlaz and YOu Can't Pimp Me are tight songs as well as 'Ima Raise Me A Soldier and Undefeated. NO mo Play IN Ga Pt. 2 is the real gem though. Sporting a great chorus "I'm rEady I'm ready for war bump Peace, I'm Im ready for war I'm in these streets"...that's crunk right there.

But don't be mistaken there is some weak trash on the album such as the horrible Tell Em It's ON as well as the less than stellar Chug A Lug. And When He Comes and If They Kill Me are both wack.

This is a nice album from Pastor Troy. He expands his fanbase on certain songs and on others he gets too experimental and loses focus. But the album is still a blast to listen to and I would recommend it to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars KEEP YO COMPOSURE, July 8, 2006

One of the greats from pastor, and a good move on his part, this album was by far his most advertised album, because of those who did work on it, and because of this his intro album had a look back on his other previous albums, this got new and looking fans a good look at what his other albums had to offer, this i thought was pretty smart of him, on top of that, the album has much to offer from the producer/mc that is Pastor Troy. All the songs are different and leave ya guessing. One of my favorites is the (in my opinion) is the second track "Universal Soldier", so, if your a fan, or looking for a new favorite, or just like good rap music, that is different than the same Drugs, sex, killing mold, then pick this one up

5.0 out of 5 stars We Ready!!!, March 6, 2006
This review is from: Universal Soldier (Audio CD)
You have to give this CD 5 stars. This is the kind of CD you dream about, the kind that you can pop in your player and listen to the entire album without skipping tracks. It really is that good. Personally, PT's best work. Tracks like; "Who, what, wen, where," "Universal Solder," "Are we cuttin'" These three songs alone could sell themselves. Last but not least, PT throws on "Vica Versa," as sort of the icing on the cake. This is a must buy!!!!!!!

This is one of his best albums and has great tracks like Vica Versa, Are We Cuttin f/ Ms. Jade, Who What When Where, and If I Wasn't Rappin f/ UGK. This is a whole 'nother level better then the peice of sh*t Face off Part II he dropped this year. This is one of the albums you need to get.

My least favorite of his 4 major label albums. His best is by far "Face Off" and "By Any Means Necessary" & "Face Off Pt. 2" are better than this one as well, but this cd still has its highpoints. He stays true to his down south Georgia sound that he loves. He still has those tracks that tell ghetto tales and he tells 'em well his his signature deep, raspy voice. It has 2 classics, 4 that I skip, 2 are ok, the rest are good. Production is great and bad depending on the song. Lil Jon does 3, Timbaland, Pastor Troy, Tony Sims, Jazze Pha all do 2, and Dada & Vagez, Big Floaty, Church Boi, Carl Mo all do 1. Still a good album to have if you're a fan but not his best work.

#2 - 8.5
#3 - 6.5 (f/ Ms. Jade)
#4 - 10 (classic f/ Bun B of UGK)
#5 - 8.5
#6 - 6.5 (f/ Timbaland)

#8 - 5

#11 - 7.5 (f/ Pinhead & blackout)
#12 - 7.5
#13 - 8
#14 - 8.5 (talkin' 'bout when God comes)
#15 - 8 (tribute to America - a remake of Macho Man Randy Savage's "real American" theme music from late 80's WWF)
#17 - 10 (classic track from "Face Off" f/ Peter the Diciple)
