Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The entire Universal Studios theme park is yours to explore, with Woody Woodpecker acting as your guide. You will see things no visitor has before and collect secret items that help you complete a series of challenges. The biggest challenge of all is seeing the whole park before it closes at dusk. Attractions include rides based on Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Backdraft, and E.T.. The more secrets you discover, the more dimensions of the park will open before you. And you can see everything from either third- or first-person perspectives. For one or two players.

2.0 out of 5 stars Universal.. GameCube Game or a Frisbee!!!, February 25, 2002
This review is from: Universal Studios Theme Park (Video Game)
First, lets just say that this game sounds awesome. So you order it. Get it, then play it. Then you will say " Why did I waste $50 on this?". Good question!
First, I will say the visuals of the park are excellent. That is the only reason it got 2 stars in my rating. But that is where it all ends. You start out at the beginning of the park looking for a park map. You walk around, talk to people and Woody Woodpecker who are trying to give you clues as to what to do next. Well, you don't need clues. All you do is go to each attraction( which are Back to the Future, Backdraft, Lost World, Jaws, E.T. and Western World) complete the tasks or mini-games for each attraction and get a stamp. Oh, I forgot, the big challenge is to find all of the letters in the park that spell out Universal Studios. Of course it is no challenge at all! Once you have collected all of the stamps and have seen the "Hollywood Magic Show", the game ends. I finished it in 2 hours.
There is only one possible purpose to this game, advertisement for Universal Studios! Maybe it is good and challenging for young kids(10&under), otherwise don't waste your money! Rent it first to see if you like it, but I doubt you will.

4.0 out of 5 stars Universally Average, January 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Universal Studios Theme Park (Video Game)
I gave this four stars instead of three, because the high points of this game really do matter. This is what I thought Universal Studios: Theme Parks Adventure has inside:

The High and Good Points:
*Based on Universal Studios in Japan
*Great Photo-Realistic Graphics
*Real-time voices
*One of the best graphic displays on the GCN yet
*A must for minigame fans
*Additictive Gameplay
*Great Movie Music, highly added
*Minigames are fun and some are two players
*A movie quiz with over 500+ questions
*Great, un-sloppy cinema sequences

The Average Points:
*Only main characters talk
*Not much characters
*Takes a while to beat on other modes
*Easy mode way too easy, doesn't help you prepare for normal and hard mode at all
*Attraction Mode base poorly thought out
*Should have included the Backlot Tour or more minigames
*Map makes no sense what so ever since you go in little sequences

The Bad and Low Points:
*Camera Angles are horribly made
*Guides say you can explore in first-person, which is not true
*Some minigames are arcade-style, but have skimpy play control
*Backdraft is extremely hard to beat in easy and normal mode
*Jurassic Park is a game that has an unbeatable ending in Normal and Hard mode
*E.T. is way too simple on any mode
*Very, extremely childish at times, especially in the character voices and the puzzles
*Puzzles ridiculously easy
*Quiz is way too hard on normal and hard mode
*Quiz becomes way too easy after you saw the questions a million times
*Talking to people makes no sense, since they are always talking about "Universal Studios is so great"
*Caps and the Hover Board makes a great collection of stuff to collect, but there should be more (like the real things at a theme park [Souvenirs and Food])

This is not a promo for the studios, but is highly into talking about the park.

To sum this up, Universal Studios: Theme Parks Adventure is fun for a rent, but a pain for a buy. So, rent it and have fun, which was I did and I was satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply Hellish, November 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Universal Studios Theme Park (Video Game)
Should you ever find yourself entering the gates of Hell, Satan will personally hand you a copy of this GC turd. Why? Because playing this ultra-boring video "game" is worse than having a spike driven through your pancreas. The designers of this stinker should be forced to play it for 24 hours. The game play is as exciting as watching flies mate. Your pathetic missions are sprinkled with tedious trash-picking and disturbing mini-games. In fact, when you throw a piece of trash away, the boy exclaims with delight, "This is FUN!" It's as if they need to tell you that you are actually enjoying the game. Of course, you are not. You are figuring out ways to get your money returned while holding back the tears. Be afraid. Be very afraid... And bored out of your mind.
