5.0 out of 5 stars Just Right for Some
I've been a fan of Mary Hanson-Roberts skill with color for many years, and in fact, own the human-sized version of this very deck. This deck fits beautifully into the scale of my created fantasy world with my troll collection, so naturally, they got this, a miniature of mine! What fun! I ordered the other Rider-Waite miniature deck a couple days ago, but I saw this deck today at a local occult shop, and just had to have it, because it's even smaller! It's very cute, and the colors in the Universal deck are much nicer than the original colors in the Rider-Waite, but this deck is simply too small to be practical. The cards are about the size of a postage stamp - 3.5cm by 2.1cm to be precise. Shuffling is almost impossible. I wouldn't try to give a serious reading with this deck. The deck I bought came in a little plastic box attached to a key ring. The box seems pretty sturdy and it probably would stand up to regular wear-and-tear if you decided to put it on your keychain. This is a fun deck if you are a collector, or tarot lover that wants a little conversation piece, or something to play with when you're stuck in a waiting room or something like that. However, if you are attempting to learn the tarot or want to read regularily with this deck, I suggest you get a bigger one.

I liked the idea of the other reviewer who said she was going to use them for a display. That sounds really neat, and I might get a second deck myself so I can do this. These would also be really nice for decoupage - perhaps even decoupaging a box to hold your real reading deck.

Overall, this is a cute little deck that I don't regret buying, though I doubt I'll get much practical use out of it. For the price, it's a fun little toy. (I paid more at the store I got mine from.) If you want a cute accessory, buy it. If you want a serious reading deck, keep searching.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but too small for my taste., February 3, 2002
This review is from: Tiny Universal Waite Tarot (Cards)
The deck is really cute - the universal Rider deck, faithful to the fully sized deck, but the size of a keyholder.

It makes for a lovely show & tell item, but is impractical for reading - such small cards are really hard to shuffle, arrange, and read.

The Rider deck is printed in five sizes - giant, regular, pocket, miniature, and tiny. The giant is good for classes, the regular and pocket are good for readings, while the tiny is good just for the curiosity factor.

It comes in a quality plastic box with a good small chain, so it can really serve as a keyholder.

3.0 out of 5 stars Did not come with keychain, January 16, 2006

The previous reviews of this item are appropriately descriptive, and communicate the pros and cons of a deck this size very well. As a novelty, it's great. As a working deck, it's poor. I won't add to that, as it's been covered in other reviews.

What moved me to write a review is that apparently the packaging for the deck is inconsistent. Many reviewers have written about receiving their little deck with a plastic case on a keychain. My deck did not come with such a plastic case. In fact, the case mine came in was made of very thin cardboard and was crumpled. If you care about such things--and I do--there is the potential for disappointment, here. The cards were in great condition, to be clear, but the cardboard case was not.

I do have to confess to being mystified by the reviewers comments that this deck is impractical, when it obviously was developed as a curio, and secondly, there is a full size version of it available. In any case, we're taking delight in it here.

2.0 out of 5 stars printing isn't great, November 21, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tiny Universal Waite Tarot (Cards)
The size is really cute, but what I don't like about this deck is that the printing isn't clear. Instead of tiny clear sharp images, you get fuzzy, blurry ones, because you can see each individual pixel. It actually looks like bad Sunday comics printing.

If you're trying to decide between the tiny and miniature sizes, I would strongly recommend the miniature. That's what I wish I'd gotten.

4.0 out of 5 stars Foolish but fun, March 24, 2008

Tarot cards the size of postage stamps? A daft idea, but I love them. They're a great conversation piece. 4 April - A later addition to my review: Also, you might be surprised to find, they're not just a novelty item - once you get around the fact you can't shuffle them conventionally (just tip them out of their little box and mess them around a bit), they do work quite well for conventional readings. And a spread takes up very little space, and nobody around you will guess what you're doing. (sorting your stamp collection?)

4.0 out of 5 stars A Collector's Item, November 2, 2005
This review is from: Tiny Universal Waite Tarot (Cards)
I just got this it was cheap and for a collector's item. You can shuffle the cards easily but not by bending them, I just mix them up. Larger tarot cards just take up to much space for multiple cards to be read from a spread. These ones are so small you barely need any space.

3.0 out of 5 stars From me, For you, June 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Tiny Universal Waite Tarot (Cards)
well, across the world i have seen many different decks of tarot cards, i must say, this is the first and perhaps only deck that is so mini in size and its by Waite himself that i have seen in the market. i bought it for a simple reason: i wanted a display of tarot cards but hey, i cant get the usual sized ones right? then they'll probably take up the whole wall. i found this deck and thought that it'll make a perfect display of the tarot deck itself, each and every single designed card. the plus point of this tiny deck is that, it still tags along with it faithfully, as ever, its own paper-folded tarot information and readings. an amazingly cute buy and useful too.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Itsy Bitsy Tarot Deck, November 15, 2002

Terrie (Little Chute, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tiny Universal Waite Tarot (Cards)
I like miniture things so I love this tiny little deck with cards about the size of a postage stamp ( actually some commemorative stamps are bigger than these cards.) This is a very tiny edition of the Universal Waite deck by Mary Hanson-Roberts which is a more vividly colored version of the famous Rider-Waite deck featuring the artwork of Pamela Coleman Smith. It is mostly useful as a collector's treasure. It is very faithful in color and detail to the normal size deck. Obviously, the imagery is very small and hard to see, so you would want to familiarize yourself with a larger deck before expecting these to be of any real use in divination. They are so tiny and numerous that it is easy to drop them and they are difficult to handle, but you can get used to them if you really want to do so. They remind me of the little Nanta bags that Strega witches carry with their tiny little magical implements. They are easy to carry in a purse, back-pack, glove-box or pocket and for a reader who is very familair with the symbols this deck is a nice little portable, readily available deck that can come in handy for on the spot, impromptu readings. This deck may be useful depending upon your needs , but it is certainly an endearing little treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiny Universal Waite is a wonderful tool!, August 20, 2010

This tiny cutie is a powerhouse! Put in a low bowl and choose one in the morning to see what the day holds; and/or ask a question, choose card, and meditate on the answer. Carry one or two as talisman to manifest your wishes. A major combine with a minor is excellent for this. So many possibilities...use your imagination. I absolutely love these.
