A couple of design limitations turned this from a routine to difficult install. First, there is a "setback" on the threads for the water supply on the old valve that makes it easy to attach the hoses. This was missing on this replacement. As a result, even though the hot hose went on easily, the cold hose kept feeling like it was cross-threaded. After 1/2 turn, it got too hard to turn by hand. I struggled with it for almost an hour, trying to find the correct thread-base. I could EASILY thread either hose onto either input from the OLD valve, But the cold hose on the cold input on the new valve kept stopping after 1/2 turn. Finally, I gave up and just forced it with a large pair of channel-lock pliers. But I had NO idea if I was going to be able to tighten it, was destroying it, or if it would seal. It seems OK (first run-through) but it was a worry. That small, flat area before the threads start (on the OEM part) are more valuable than you might think. Second, this part has a SMALLER exit hole than the OEM part. They supply about 1/2 inch of tubing that you slip over the output to make it fit the larger hose of my GE Washer. I am hopeful that this will never leak. But I am also cognizant of the fact that I am now delivering water more slowly, and it will take longer to fill, and rinse. In fact, all wash loads must now take some time longer than before.

Update: 3-December-2013
The product seems to be working well after a month or so - no leaks. I've increased my rating from 2 to 3 stars, because the install was unnecessarily difficult. Since the cold hose went on correctly without leaks, I suspect the problem is more a slight out-of-tolerance thread. It is VERY unnerving to have to turn the hose ring so hard on a small plastic part.

A cheaper alternative to Sears Parts Direct. I think it is the same item too! Easy to install and working perfect.

It worked well... At first glance it looked like it wouldn't fit but once I removed the old piece and replaced it with this part it was a perfect fit... And the best part is... That it made my washer work again lol.. I'd recommend this to anyone

I didn't realize how slow the water flow had been until I replaced my original water valve with this universal replacement. The instructions were easy to follow and just as easy to install. I did have to let it cycle first but immediately had hot and cold water when I cycled through the different know positions.

Ordered this for an old Kelvinator washer. I was concerned about whether it would mount and connect like the original one that had leaking issues due to the threads being worn down. This worked perfectly. The included bracket matched up to original holes (no drilling) and although the outlet nipple was smaller than the original, the included clear rubber hose worked like a charm so that the hose that attaches to it went on nice and tight without any leakage. Easy installation. It worked great also after getting it all back together and testing. No leaks either. I could not have asked for anything better. Great price also even though I paid for one day shipping so as the wife could use the washer by the weekend. Thanks Amazon. I highly recommend this universal valve.

This generic 21001932 has a 3/8 outlet valve that even with the plastic sleeve adapter does not snugly connect with a resulting slow leak. The solenoids are smaller than OEM but I am not sure what that means for longevity. The hose strainers are different being slightly larger on the generic. I opted for the OEM directly from Amazon which was 3 times the cost but I don't particularly like the whole repair process so I believe it is worth it
