4.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic!, February 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Universe Between (Hardcover)
I first read this book when I was about 12. I cannot say that it was the first Science Fiction book I'd ever read. I can say that it helped propel me onto a life-long interest. Universe Between (which was entitled The Thresholders when I first came across it is a good example of early SciFi. Not having too many deep seated concepts it was a pretty good adventure tale on parallel universes and (strangely enough) how it's bad to abuse resources. Not rocket science, a good all around read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A timeless tale of topology, February 6, 2010
What if someone could cross into a parallel universe, just by turning through a strange corner? And if all distances in our universe were just a few steps and an angle in the other? Travel anywhere, in just a few paces! The only problem is, the other universe appears so disrupted and confusing, that only a few high-adaptive characters in the story can stand to see it. The story develops the idea from a labortory curiosity, to a family secret, to an interplanetary transportation business, and finally to a relationship between the peoples of the two universes.

This was one of my favorites when I was in high school, forty years ago. It is timeless in its concepts and characters and would be just as interesting today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating lucid science fiction, September 16, 1999
This review is from: The Universe Between (Hardcover)
Wow, I just had to add my post here. This was also the very first Science Fiction book I ever read. I moved on to Clarke, Tolkien, Asimov etc. from here, but I will always credit this book for beginning my life long love of the genre.
