5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Spiritual Resource
Eric Butterworth brings the depth of universal spiritual wisdom to you in this book. It is a very practical and clearly written guide to aligning ourselves with God. I couldn't put the book down until I'd finished it. A must read

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth Paying For.
This book is useful as an introduction to a topic that most people have not seriously explored - the concept of an impersonal God. I am a member of Unity, so worship side by side with people who hold these views. However, Butterworth's "theology" is essentially pantheistic, maybe pan-deistic, but he is not a Christian panentheist. If you are a seeker, seeking a real...

5.0 out of 5 stars New Dimensions in Prayer, September 18, 2001

When I began reading the book, I thought "not another book on prayer." But Mr. Butterworth addresses this attitude early in the book and then takes you on a journey that allows you to erase old traditional thinking about prayer as begging God to do things to prayer as empowering communion and oneness with God. I highly recommend it to those who are seeking fresh insight into prayer and oneness.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Simple Genius of Eric Butterworth, August 16, 2004
By
This review is from: The Universe Is Calling: Opening to the Divine Through Prayer (Paperback)
The genius in this book will be missed by many people unfortunately. Like the teachings of Jesus, Eric Butterworth brings profound Truths to a simple lesson that is so easy to read that few will stop and study the material that can alter the course of their lives for the better. This is a masterpiece of metaphysics and Eric Butterworth a Master Teacher. Everyone familiar with metaphysics or the teachings of Jesus will find this book invaluble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, yet powerful, May 7, 2009
This review is from: The Universe Is Calling: Opening to the Divine Through Prayer (Paperback)
This is my handbook for prayer and meditation. It takes these sometimes unweildy practices and combines them into one method that brings the individual into a dynamic relationship with the Infinite. For most people, prayer is a reaching out to God. Butterworth reminds us of our innate divinity and reverses the prayer process, telling us that we need to go in rather than out. Go within and, in the silence, touch our true selves, then let the prayer come from our oneness with God. In this way, the prayer is not an intercession or a plea, it is an affirmation of truth. I have been doing this for many years and find it a wonderful way to experience God and receive guidance from Him.

One of the techniques Butterworth explains is to Relax, Let Go, and Let God be God in us. The relaxing part is often the missing link for many. I think of it as giving ourselves over in trust to Him. Butterworth also speaks of the power of group prayer, something I'm part of and always find an amazing experience. His "Praying for Others" chapter was also a heart opener, where we are asked to remove our worry from the situation before turning to the divine for an answer. Not easy, but if we truly trust in Him we can establish ourselves in that love that will envelop whoever we are concerned about and establish them in the healing flow. The wonderful thing about this process is that it can work within any religious context, and is what, I believe, Jesus was trying to teach all along.

On a personal note, I have been on several Unity retreats with Eric and Olga Butterworth and loved both their teaching and their loving presence. Continuing the journey, I present my own related spiritual teaching in a work of fiction, Dreality: A story about returning home, which tells of the journey from brokeness to wholeness and what life is all about from the viewpoint of those who have died and are now in heaven. There is no greater force on the planet than love, and the sooner each one of us makes knowing that love the most important thing in our lives, the sooner we can make our planet a true reflection of heaven.

One of Eric Butterworths phenomenal books that calls to your inner Divinity. With his many books, I would have to say that this one is his second best, following "Discover the Power Within You" If you want to get in touch with the Divine, Eric Butterworth paints the perfect picture that everyone can understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Universe is Calling and I AM listening, January 9, 2007

Eric Butterworth's work caused me to think, to reconsider the old Sunday School lessons and to look at my own beliefs in a way that surprised and delighted me.

I so appreciated Butterworth's research and the presentation of his arguements and I have recommended this book to many friends and relatives.

I read recently that Eric Butterworth passed away some years ago and I felt as though I had lost a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Prayer, March 23, 2009

This review is from: The Universe Is Calling: Opening to the Divine Through Prayer (Paperback)
As the author of a spiritually-themed novel,[...], I am always on the lookout for books that feed my spirit. "The Universe is Calling" definitely fits that bill.

I have long been a seeker of spiritual enlightenment, having come from a religious background where I had been spoonfed my beliefs. That did not empower me to discover the truth within myself. Consequently I felt empty and disconnected.

As I began my spiritual journey, I discovered that all truth resides within. Everything that is in this book speaks of truth to me. This is a book that transformed my prayer life as I believe it will do for you. It taught me how to take charge of my prayers by letting go of my concerns and affirming that only those good things that I desired would manifest within my life.

Such has become the truth of my experience. New doors to exciting new possibilities have opened to me. Almost overnight, I have become a published author of a series of books that deliver spiritual truths which have been evolving within me for many years.

Eric Butterworth has affirmed these truths for me. The beautiful thing about this book, and every book he has written, is that his language is clear. His suggestions are practical. He manages to instill confidence in his readers that they may come to enjoy and abundant life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book on spirituality, May 6, 2008

I'd love to sway people to read this book; but I may not do it justice. If you're struggling with life and need another look at the situation, this is a good book. I've bought this book for a good friend and she soon bought it for somebody else and it seems to have helped a small group of people I know.

The Universe Is Calling is a great personal journey to read and enjoy. Find a bookstore that has it and begin to read it. If it catches your attention, then buy it - enjoy.

This may not be a helpful review; but if you give the book it's due, you'll see why it's better for others to find out for themselves how good this book is and how helpful it is to your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finest prayer manual, November 3, 2006
By
This review is from: The Universe Is Calling: Opening to the Divine Through Prayer (Paperback)
Many years ago, when I took Life of Prayer at Unity School, this was the book recommended as the best text for teaching about prayer. Since then I have taught series classes on the Unity approach to prayer four times using this wonderful book. It is easily understood by the novice to New Thought and an excellent enhansement to those who have studied Truth for years. I recommend this to anyone interested in learning about prayer, teaching a class, or training a prayer team.
