5.0 out of 5 stars Simply AWESOME. Excellent Sculpting & Articulation! Also, Love the Button!
The DC Universe Classics "All-Stars" series features the re-release of several characters from earlier waves of Mattel's hit toy series. Unlike the earlier releases, these "All-Star" figures do not come with pieces of a "BAF" or "Build A Figure." Instead, they come with what Mattel describes as a "Collector's Item Button." This review is from: DC Universe Classic Green Arrow Figure (Toy)
The DC Universe Classics "All-Stars" series features the re-release of several characters from earlier waves of Mattel's hit toy series. Unlike the earlier releases, these "All-Star" figures do not come with pieces of a "BAF" or "Build A Figure." Instead, they come with what Mattel describes as a "Collector's Item Button." Unlike the buttons included with other characters in the "All-Stars" series, Green Arrow's button is a lot of fun: it's a mini-reproduction of the comic "Green Lantern/ Green Arrow" #90 which features gorgeous Mike Grell art! Cool!

The figure itself is made out of sturdy, hard plastic and features an amazing amount of poseable joints. However, unlike Toy Biz's earlier "Marvel Legends" line, these joints do not mean that the figure cannot stand on its own; Green Arrow can stand up tall and proud. This is one of the best aspects of this line by Mattel: the hard, sturdy plastic makes it great for kid-play and the excellent sculpture and poseability make it a hit with older collectors.

The sculpt of this figure is right on target (no pun intended). It's an excellent likeness of Oliver Queen, the first (and best) Green Arrow. The face has a great sculpt and the body is also a dead-on representation of the character and his costume. The pose the figure is in on the card may give the buyer a misleading impression of the figure as Green Arrow's morphology looks slightly different than other figures in the line. This is, however, an optical illusion: Green Arrow is just as large and muscular as any of the other DC Universe Classics figures. I give the look of the figure and its sculpt and poseability five stars.

Green Arrow's bow fits well in his hand and has an arrow molded in, which means that the bow can be kept and given to children, as it probably won't pose a choking hazard. However, the figure comes with four other loose arrows; parents may want to just throw these away. Adult collectors were mad at the bow being molded with an arrow attached, but Mattel does not make toys just for adults and has to follow certain laws and standards. The adult collectors' "loss" (see other reviews of this product) is the gain of parents.

All-in-all, this is an excellent figure and well worth tracking down. The bad thing about these DC Universes figures is that adult collectors routinely troll Wal-Marts and other retail stores and buy up all these figures. As a result, Amazon and other e-tailers may be the only way some of us with families and jobs can find these high-quality figures. Green Arrow is one of the best of this line so far; snap up this figure if you have the chance!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Green Arrow Action Figure, August 9, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

There will never be a better Green Arrow action figure in this scale...period. No toy is perfect but this comes close. Yes the bow and molded arrow is the ONE draw back but it is an easy fix. Snip off the plastic string and replace with an elastic band from a fabric shop. Here's a tip; use the green bow string you removed to make an arrow of appropriate length.

Even with the custom work required this is the best, comic accurate, Green Arrow ever!

Got a good price for Green Arrow and it arrived quickly. Product could be more descriptive of what package contains and what it does not. For example, many DC Universe figures come with a "Collect to Connect" piece to build a larger, separate DCU figure. The one I purchased did not, but they sold one that looked identical that did. I wasn't able to see the packaging, only the figure. I would have been happier to have seen the packaging, to have a choice.

I might have been interested in this version of Green Arrow over the Wave 9 released figure from 2009 if Mattel had made slight paint modifications and included a bow that did not have the arrow molded to the bow.

Seriously, why is the arrow molded to the bow... If there was a child safety law, why included 4 extra arrows? The bow can't be displayed at his side and the bow looks silly allowing no freedom what so ever to display the bow how I see fit...

Mattel has graciously taken that freedom away from owners of this figure by displaying the arrow forever in one position with 4 extra arrows that can't be placed on the bow... and there is no quiver/backpack to store the extra bows.... But I like how Mattel thinks out of the box as many archers carry around their extra arrows willy-nilly... and have one arrow glued to their bow permanently...
