I ordered the Hawkman figure to help complete my Justice League collection and wasn't disappointed. He is articulated and the wings are so cool. I already had a Hawkgirl and Hawkman but decided to get the DC Universe Classics figures which was a better choice for size and articulation. I recommend this figure.

Let's get down to brass tacks - when it comes to a character named Hawkman, his figure had better have some impressive wings. Now, I haven't seen any of the DC Direct Hawkman figures with my own eyes but I do know that the sculptors at DC Direct are more concerned with appearance over poseability and while their Hawkman's wings may look avian-accurate, they most likely have limited range of mobility. the DC Universe Classics Hawkman wings are poseable in addition to looking good. They have a door-style hinge on the back of the figure so they can be flat (as seen in the photo), flush against each other or at any V-shape angle you choose. The body itself is sturdy and well-sculpted. The accessories are a sword, a mace and a shield, all three of which have some nice detailing depicting a lifetime (or several lifetimes, in the case of Hawkman) of usage. If I have to nitpick this figure at all, I would point at two things: 1. His right fist is closed so he cannot hold both his sword and his mace simultaneously and 2. His eyes are "Batman white" instead of the classic and much larger slit-pupil eyes as seen in the comics and the Super Friends TV show. This figure is one of the few in the Wave 6 assortment which tends to fly off shelves - no pun intended - and if you want a stellar example of what DC Universe Classics brings to the table as far as bringing quality, poseability and fun is concerned, look no further than Hawkman.

I wouldn't really recommend the DC Universe figures for kids because they're more aimed at the fanboy market, of which I am a proud member. But this Hawkman figure is so much better than anything else Hawkman-related that DC has released. The articulation, sculpt, and accessories are just great. A great product and I can't wait for more DC Universe figures!
