5.0 out of 5 stars What Fun!
My son and I get addicted to this game and will continually play it each evening for a week or more. It's been a big hit each time we have given it for a birthday or Christmas gift. It's fun for 5 yrs old through adults because it is very easy to learn. It's nice not to have too many instructions to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars It Takes Small, Sure Fingers...
Mancala is a great game to play anywhere, so I was excited to find a travel mancala set to take to the beach. The board itself is well built, solid with a good hinge spring to keep it shut.

My main complaint with the set was the stones, which are painted micro-pebbles of varying sizes. Although the irregular shapes contribute to the faux-authenticity of the game, they...

Mancala is a great game to play anywhere, so I was excited to find a travel mancala set to take to the beach. The board itself is well built, solid with a good hinge spring to keep it shut.

My main complaint with the set was the stones, which are painted micro-pebbles of varying sizes. Although the irregular shapes contribute to the faux-authenticity of the game, they are extremely hard to handle, pick out of the small board holes, and distribute without dropping into the wrong hole. There is also a strong possibility of having your carefully held fingerful of stones fall away completely, scattering across the floor and initiating a completely new kind of game!

My second problem with the set is the instructions. There are several variations on Mancala, and this one is obscure and hard to understand. No other options are presented for the players to use.

Skip this one, set aside a little extra room, and take a full sized board with real stones.

I bought this toy for my daughter as she loves mancala and since we travel alot I thought it would be perfect for the car. Imagine my surprise when we received it. The board is an okay size but the pieces are made of tiny rocks that are very hard for little or adult fingers to pick up. My daughter has never played with it because she cannot pick up the pieces out of the hole.

Mancala is a classic strategy game that is easy for young children to learn to play. I purchased this travel version to save storage space in my house. Alas--the stones are too small for little fingers. Most of the stones are really pebbles. Although there are plenty of extra stones, they will soon be lost. The stones could and should have been larger.

We took our Mancala board camping with us this summer. My five year old is really good at it. I only wish the stones were larger, even small fingers have trouble with them.

Mancala is a game of strategy that can be taught to anyone in about 5 minutes. My elementary students are motivated to earn time to play this game. I have given this game as a gift to children and adults alike. My father-in-law, who is usually a "hard sell," plays this game with his grandchildren and adults, both! Three cheers for mancala!

I WENT TO A 4TH OF JULY PICNIC AND THEY HAD MANCALA THERE. I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS VERY EDUCATIONAL SINCE YOU HAVE TO BE ALERT AND HAVE A LOT OF STRATEGY. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO ON A RAINY DAY OR A SUNNY DAY, PLAY THIS GAME WITH A PARTNER. YOU'LL HAVE A LOT OF FUN!!!!!

Mancala is a great game for all ages. The rules are easy to learn and the stones are neat colors. I think that all people should try this game.

1.0 out of 5 stars TOO SMALL, September 10, 2005

The pieces that come with the game are too small. Very difficult for older kids with larger fingers. Also once you open the game all the pieces pop out and fall all over. Easy to lose the small pieces. It is a fun & educational toy until you lose all the pieces.

This is a great game. It only takes a few minutes to learn the rules, and most games only last 10-15 minutes. I played it as a child and it is one of the games I enjoy playing with my daughter. The game teaches some basic strategy, but the best thing about it is it can be played by people of all ages without being too hard for the young ones or too silly for the older ones. The other nice thing about this game, if you lose the playing pieces, you can substitute just about any small item. My first game came with dried lima beans as the playing pieces.
