Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Big Brain Academy Game, from University Games, helps answer the question; who has the biggest brain? You'll find out by playing this new mental fitness game based on the original best-selling Nintendo¿ DS title. Players answer questions in five fun categories: Analyze, Compute, Identify, Memorize and Think. But don't worry, it's speed and accuracy that count - not smarts! Teams collect chips based on the number of questions they answer correctly. After five rounds of play, teams weigh their chips on the "brain-o-meter" scale to see which team has the biggest brain. Big Brain Academy keeps minds nimble and players laughing! Contents include 330 Cards, Spinner, Scale, Puzzle Pieces, Scoring Chips, Red Revealer, Sand Timer, Dry Erase Pen and Instructions. Intellectual fun for 2 to 4 players.

Product Description

Who has the biggest brain? Perfect for lovers of brainteasers and puzzles, this fun board game is inspired by the top-selling Nintendo DS video game. Players are mentally and physically challenged in five different categories: Analyze, Compute, Identify, Memorize and Think. The player who collects the most tokens by answering questions correctly wins. Speed and accuracy count - not smarts - when answering questions at the Big Brain Academy. Teams collect chips based on the number of questions they answer correctly. After five rounds of play, teams weigh their chips on the "brain-o-meter" to see which team has the biggest brain. In this game, brain weight does matter! For 2 to 6 players.

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
We have a large family with children of game playing age between 9 and 14, but this game was enjoyable for everyone, including the parents. It's both educational and challenging, while providing enough categories that everyone will have some strong categories and some weak ones.

You can do everything from simple math problems, to memory games, to building shapes with tangrams. There is enough variety that even playing the game every night for a week nobody gets bored! We even played one night with the grandparents and they were challenged, too.

We've played the game with six to eight people on two teams and everyone gets plenty of opportunity to play.

I really love that this game has been a confidence builder in our youngest two girls (9 and 10). They would start a category with a lot of "I can't do this" or "I'm not good at this" but each question they got correct bolstered their confidence in their abilities and made them more likely to try without the "can't" the next time.

Overall this is a very inexpensive way to spend enjoyable family time together. Amazingly, we made it through the game every single time without the kids fighting or arguing - and they actually cheered each other on and supported their sibling teammates! That alone makes it worth every penny!

The game is great overall, but there is one minor problem. "Hidden" answers on the cards are supposed to be revealed using a red transparent card. The problem is, we can clearly see the answers without the revealer thing. Some aren't as obvious, but others can be clearly read even across the table. Since the person answering the question is holding the card .... unless you're color blind, you can easily see the answer. It would have made much more sense if the "hidden" answers were printed on the other side of the card.

I purchased this to help my son work on some occupational therapy goals and he is having a great time playing it without realizing he is working on spatial concepts, memory etc. A fun family game!
