Wanting to teach myself some physics in a self-paced, self-study fashion, I purchased this, along with University Physics: Study Guide, Vols. 2 and 3 and University Physics with Modern Physics: Student Solutions Manual. So far, so good!
It's a pity that the authors and/or publishers think they have to release a new version every couple of years with barely anything new at all - but for those that want to self-study, you can buy the book and all the guides for about 90% off what the new version would cost (if you buy used.) Can't complain!

This was "THE" physics book back in 1977 when I was a student at Texas A & I University. If you are really interested in a strong, excellent (not easy) textbook for physics, this is it! Dr. Rolando Guerra
