2.0 out of 5 stars Not great for older doors or doors with large drafts
Although the draft guard does block some of the draft, it doesn't block it entirely. The guard isn't snug under the door and tends to require repositioning. I was also less than impressed with the "technology"- two rolls of foam tucked into some cheap fabric. Filling an old pair of nylons/pantyhose with rice and tying the ends worked better and was far cheaper. Stick to...

I found the solution to the lose fit of the "Twin Draft Guard"!!!
I was having the same problem as a few others about the sloppy fit of this item.

Solution: I went to Lowes and bought one ¾ inch PVC pipe insulation FOAM.
This foam is of the stiff kind (while holding the middle of the foam insulation, both ends should stick out. If when holding the foam insulation both ends flop down, then you've got the wrong foam insulation.) and should cost no more than a $1.30.
Make sure you get the uncut version of this pipe insulation foam. This foam is a bit wider than the foam that comes with the "Twin Draft Guard" (TDG).

One side of the foam insulation slipped into the TDG reasonable but the other side I had to massage it in (a little difficult). That alone made it go from a sloppy fit to a nice snug-to-tight fit.

Now, to stop it from sliding off the door when I open the door between the hallway and room... I put a thumbtack at the very end of the TDG under the door.

Perfect! It's now snug and doesn't slide off the door when opening or closing the door.
Hopefully this will help others.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless unless it fits *JUST* right, January 12, 2008

This item is useless. I imagine it *might* work if my door were precisely wide enough to fill the channel created by the cloth cover, which *might* possibly cinch the two styrofoam sides of the doorguard flush with the door. But since my door isn't wide enough to fill that channel, the installed DraftGuard rides above the gap in the doorframe, which of course defeats its purpose. (See my photo in the Photo Gallery)

Further, the styrofoam tube is bent into a circl for mailing, and once installed the styrofoam naturally curves upward, away from the gap between the door and the frame, again defeating the purpose.

Finally: My guess is that there's around 40-50 cents worth of material in this item. Think twice before you buy this item.

HOWEVER, I'm pleased to report that "Get Organized" (the Amazon merchant that sells this item) promptly issued me a refund.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits Standard Doors Perfectly, December 26, 2006

If you are looking for a way to keep your house warmer in the winter or cooler in the summer, this is a good solution that will quickly remedy the problem of drafts under the front door. It may also help in windy rainstorms where water is likely to find its way under the door. Within a day after putting this under the front door, I noticed the house staying much warmer and now my home is cozy warm. If you have a standard size front door, this should fit with no adaptations. If you have any problems with this fitting, all you do it resize the foam inside and instructions are included.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work well unless it is used on a door that is never opened, February 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
TWIN DRAFT GUARDAlthough the Draft Guard has to be made of thin material so the door can open and close, it is made rather cheaply, and the foam on either side should be filled with dried beans or something that is heavy that is shapeable instead of the foam. The problem is that this product does not fit most doors. Once you get it slid under the door, it is too loose under the door and a lot of air still gets in. Unless you go outside and pull the foam that faces the outdoors tight, so the foam that is inside the house is pulled tight up against the inside of the door, it will not block any cold or warm air from getting in. And each time the door is used, this has to be done again, which means you have to use another door to walk outside the house, pull it tight again, and then go inside the house using the same different door, otherwise the Draft Guard moves again once you used the door and has to be rearranged again. So, basically, unless you plan to use this on a door that is never opened or closed, the product is worthless.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a great value, January 16, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Aimee's right. This product looks like it is made of heavy material in the picture, but it's actually two flimsy styrofoam tubes in a nylon case. No way this cost more than $0.85 to make. I have what I would describe as a prototypical normal door and this product reduces the draft only slighlty. Try something a little more expensive if you really need some help reducing draft.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money!, January 20, 2008

This product is flimsy and cheaply made. It is literally two styrofoam tubes in a chincy, non-weatherproof cloth sleave. It does not fit any of our doors well. Also, it does not stay in place after opening\closing the door. Don't waste your money.

3.0 out of 5 stars They don't fit ALL doors............, January 7, 2008

I was tired of pushing around a sand log so I bought 3 of these for Christmas. Two to give away and one to keep for myself. The two that I gave away don't fit any doors in the receivers' home. I would have taken at least one of them back to keep out the draft at my back door, but they don't fit my back door. The one that I kept works well with my front door. Actually, it works very well at keeping the cold air out. The commercial and the website says fits all doors which is very misleading. I figure it would cost me more to ship them back than what I paid for them so I will continue to look for someone who can use them. I will also keep pushing the sand log around.

1.0 out of 5 stars doesnt fit most doors, and when it does, it doesn't work, December 16, 2008
This review is from: Twin Draft Guard Brown (Kitchen)
picked the twin draft guard up because I have a nasty draft under my front door, it doesnt fit right and doesn't really block out that much draft. tried it in my window, and it kind of works. I would definitely say don't waste your money on this cheap product. Mine is in the trash can now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Skip Original, Go Extreme!, January 3, 2010
This review is from: Twin Draft Guard Brown (Kitchen)
I wasn't really sure how to rate this product, as I've experienced both good and bad with the Twin Draft Guards.

First of all, I bought the original Twin Draft Guard a few months ago and it was very poor-fitting around our front door....it was floppy, and made of thin, cheap fabric. I kept it at the door all this time and just figured it was better than nothing. For these reasons, I rate the original version 1 star.

The other day my Mother-in-Law recently put a draft guard on her front door and I commented how nicely it fit on the door. The fabric was a sturdy twill and the insulating tubes were larger and fit snugger than ours....it turns out she bought the Twin Draft Guard Extreme!

I went out today and bought the Extreme version and it is a 100% improvement from the original Twin Draft Guard. It fits great and snug under the door and has the nicer twill fabric. Don't Buy the Original, Buy the EXTREME! This sturdier version definitely earns a better rating.

It's just a shame the original is such a poor product, especially since it's advertised to fit tightly around your door, when in reality, it is pretty awful! Only buy the Extreme version, otherwise, save your money.
